WSUS clients not updating or checking in with server

I have got 2 clients out of 110 that wont check in or update. On the client computer both are Windows XP SP2 and have been working properly until couple of weeks ago. Both the pc have this error in the system event log which are shown below:

Source: Windows Update Agent
Catagory: Software Sync
Event ID 16

Unable to Connect: Windows is unable to connect to the automatic updates service and therefore cannot download and install updates according to the set schedule. Windows will continue to try to establish a connection.

Also in the ReportingEvents.log I see this error
Failure Software Synchronization Error: Agent failed detecting with reason: 0x8007000e

Even I was facing similar issue but I have fixed it now, follow the below commands:

• Go to start and then Run and then type net stop wuauserv
• Del c:\windows\windowsupdate.logs (XP Client)
• net start wuauserv
• wuauclt.exe /resetauthorization /detectnow

I had the same problem and later on when I installed hotfix KB898708 then it solved the issue for me.

I tried the net stop wuauserv and that only deleted the log file and nothing else, but after when I installed hotfix KB898708 then that did the trick.
