I think that checking out the WindowsUpdate.log and the ReportingEvents.log on the rebuilt client might be useful. You can however use the below solution to reset the entire update function:

Thanks for the solution, I did what you suggested for resetting and it did update WUAU using the selfupdate and reinitialized everything. But I am still having the same errors local (WSUS) and also when trying to use MU. Any other suggestions please? |

Try to uninstall any versions of Microsoft .NET Framework and see if that works. To do that, go to the Control Panel and click Install and Remove Programs and choose Microsoft .NET Framework and then uninstall it. After that restart your computer and then try to update, it will start probably then. |
