    Error: 80244010 / 8007041D

I was having a client that recently crashed and therefore I had to repair it using the microsoft repair installation from the install media. But after that I am not able to update this client anymore, neither with the WSUS nor online to MU. The WSUS server gives an error code 80244010 and MU continuously tries to install some newer version of things and always ends up in an error 8007041D. Can anyone tell me how to reset the update function properly? Thanks.

I think that checking out the WindowsUpdate.log and the ReportingEvents.log on the rebuilt client might be useful. You can however use the below solution to reset the entire update function:

    1. If you want to stop the Automatic Updates service then try the net stop wuauserv
    2. You can also try to purge the registry values in the key
    3. HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\AutoUpdate
    4. You could also try to rename the %windir%\SoftwareDistribution folder to SoftwareDistribution.old
    5. After that rename the %windir%\WindowsUpdate.log to WindowsUpdate.log.old and then reboot the system.

Thanks for the solution, I did what you suggested for resetting and it did update WUAU using the selfupdate and reinitialized everything. But I am still having the same errors local (WSUS) and also when trying to use MU. Any other suggestions please?

Try to uninstall any versions of Microsoft .NET Framework and see if that works. To do that, go to the Control Panel and click Install and Remove Programs and choose Microsoft .NET Framework and then uninstall it. After that restart your computer and then try to update, it will start probably then.
