Windows Server Update Services Error - Access denied

Hello -

I decided to go to the Windows Update site and download whatever updates
were outstanding in preparation to move to WSUS SP1. The updates downloaded
and installed, and then the Windows 2003 Server was restarted.

Now when I try to access the WSUS admin console I get :

Windows Server Update Services error
Access Denied
Network Policy settings prevent you from accessing this Windows Sever Update
Services sever. If you believe you have received this message in erro, please
check with your system administrator.

Again, this sever has been working without fail untill I downloaded updates.

Has anyone seen this who can help ?

Update -

Through a search on the Web, I was able to access the WSUS admin console
again by unchecking all proxy settings in the IE browser including
"Automatically Detect Settings".

With all of these unchecked, I am able to login into the console using the
local administrator password. Before today however that even was not
necessary as the console would normally just open up.

I am still unable to detemine at this point what is causing this.
