ERROR: VerifyWUServerURL() failed with hr=0x80072efd and ERROR:0x80072EFD

I've struggle to find solution why my WSUS client did not get listed and produce many error such as the above and the below.

WARNING: GetConfig failure, error =
>>> 0x80072EFD, soap client error = 5, soap error code = 0, HTTP status code
>>> = 200

Below is the fix. I did exactly as stated and all my errors dissapear. It's not the proxy, its not the server but this registry seems to be the culprit.

Microsoft Guru - Any ideas? I spend weeks searching this solution.

Got it!

REG Fix
The issue was with the value of REG_BINARY value called WINHTTPSETTINGS under the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\internet settings\connections

I renamed the key WINHTTPSETTINGS to WINHTTPSETTINGS_ and ran CLIENTDIAG.EXE with success.

I sincerely hope this helps those out there.
