WSUS Client Error - Soap Fault: 0x00012c

We are facing some problems with our clients. We have a Server connected with more than 1000 clients. But about 900 plus clients are not able to receiver updates due to some unknown reason but they are able to report to the console. When we checked the windowsupdate.log file, we found one thing very common with all of them and that was as follows:

WARNING: GetCookie failure, error = 0x8024400D, Soap client error = 7
WARNING: SOAP Fault: 0x00012c

Any idea what is wrong and how can I fix it?

It would have been really useful to understand the cause of the problem if you have also posted the log showing a complete scheduled detection cycle. Also I you should run the Client Diagnostic Tool provided here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/wsus/bb466192.aspx and post back with the results.

According to the logs, the very first thing that comes to my mind is that there is a flaw in the delegation of the subdomain 'auk.xtrata.int', and second thing is the process choking on the FQDN of the client as provided. Anyways, as per the solution you should know that without a valid cookie, the client cannot properly determine target group membership, and therefore cannot properly validate which updates are approved for installation, so you're probably not actually downloading/installing updates on this/these clients either, although it would otherwise appear that the detection is working...
