gpupdate /force not recognized as an internal or external command

I am having windows 2000 server box and i am getting below error message when i am trying running gpupdate /force command after changing wuauclt administrative template.
"gpupdate /force is not recognized as an internal or external command".
I have tried running wuauclt.exe /detectnow command as well but i am getting same error message with that as well. Is there anything i can do about it??

That's weird, anyways make sure that your file path is set correct. If it is then check out for wuauclt.exe and see if it exist in your system. I think you might be missing one of these thing, not sure but you should check out them in such situation.

RE: gpupdate /force not recognized as an internal or external command

Guys gpupdate is works on XP/2003 command and it wont work with Windows 2000, instead you can try using this one:

    secedit /refreshpolicy machine_policy /enforce

Once WUAU self-updates process gets completed wuauclt /detectnow should work fine, Just wait untill AU gets updated.
