WSUS - No auto-restart for scheduled automatic update installation

Sponsored Links
There is something wrong going on with "No auto-restart for scheduled automatic update installation options Group
Policy". According to this policy automatic update should wait for computer to restart by user who log on rather than restarting it automatically but computer is always restarting after installing updates no matter when a user is logged in or not. I dont want my system to get restarted automatically after installing updates instead give me a prompt with an option for restarting my computer later. Is that possible??

Re: WSUS - No auto-restart for scheduled automatic update installation

I will like to inform you that your computer will restart after completing installation, it is designed to do that. When "No auto-restart for scheduled automatic update installation options Group Policy" is disabled than computer restarts after completing installation of update. When it is enabled than user gets a prompt for initiating restart and your system should not get restart until user clicks on "Restart Now" button. I also wanted to ask if you are logging in as local admin? If not then you wont get that prompt. So in your case either you have disabled "No auto-restart ....." option or you might have not logged in as local admin.

Yes i am aware of its functionality, i am having "No auto-restart for scheduled automatic update installation options Group Policy" enabled and even after that i am not getting any prompt , my system is getting restarted automatically after installing updates. I have made sure that i am logging in as admin, there is something else that is going wrong but i am not able to make out the cause of this issue. I will try reinstalling wsus and will check out if that's helping.
