| WSUS Client not receiving updates from WSUS server
I have setup a 2 virtual PC (both on same physical machine) to test WSUS update. virtual PC1: Server 2008 (DCSrv1) is configured with WSUS, also synchronised."wsus clients not installing updates" is selected on Automatic Update Settings. Virtual PC2: Server 2008 (Boston) is used as WSUS client, GPUPDATE /force was applied. "net stop wuauserv" and "net start wuauserv", "net stop wuauserv" commands were ran. I type http://DCSrv1/iuident.cab on browser of WSUS client(Boston), i was prompted to download the file. Which means client can connect to WSUS server, connectivity is not a problem. After waiting for half an hour, WSUS client does not appear on WSUS server under All Computers/ Unassigned computer. The was no update notification prompted on WSUS client even though server has available updates to be applied to client. |

Can you please clarify what you mean by this statement: "wsus clients not installing updates" is selected on Automatic Update Settings. There is no such setting. > Virtual PC2: Server 2008 (Boston) is used as WSUS client, GPUPDATE > /force was applied. 2. You did not described in your process where you actually configured the Group Policy or how it was assigned to the "Boston" server. > "net stop wuauserv" and "net start wuauserv", "net > stop wuauserv" commands were ran. 3. Did you actually run these commands in this order as you've written them? "net stop wuauserv" and "net start wuauserv", "net stop wuauserv" commands were ran. If so, your current problem is that the Automatic Updates service on "Boston" isn't even running. Your statement tell us that you left it in the STOPPED state. -- Lawrence Garvin, M.S., MCITP:EA, MCDBA Principal/CTO, Onsite Technology Solutions, Houston, Texas Microsoft MVP - Software Distribution (2005-2009) MS WSUS Website: http://www.microsoft.com/wsus |

| Re: WSUS Client not receiving updates from WSUS server
I am having a problem with my WSUS clients. They are checking in and all updates have been approved in each group. However, the clients will not pull the updates off of the server. We are using group policy to have the clients check in, and all updates are being pulled in. I have 36 updates that need to be applied but can't get the workstations to pull the updates. Help please! |

James 911, The problem I have is that this is a government computer and we are using port 443 for our downloads. The updates are coming in but I can't get them to push out to the clients. I get the following error "The files for this update have not yet been downloaded. The update can be approved but will not be available to computers until the download is complete." How long does it take to download files? Thanks and have a great day. |

| Re: WSUS Client not receiving updates from WSUS server
My WSUS clients reports fine to the WSUS server. The server is able to figure out which updates they requires, and to most of them, pushes the updates to the clients, except for a clients. they report the packages as "not installed" and they won't download the packages they need. it has been this way for a week. Why is that? All workstations reports to the server. attached is an example of the issue. |

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920277 Alternatively, but really a last resort, you can flip the bit on YukonInstalled in the registry key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Update Services\Server\Setup]
