XP Home Edition.... Home Network.... Access Denied

2 computers, one is a Dell the other a Gateway. Both running XP Home Edition.
Ran network wizard on Dell first as it connects directly to internet. Was
told it had successfully been set up for networking. Ran the wizard on the
Gateway next and was also told it was set up for networking. (File and
printer sharing enabled in both cases.) Windows firewall disabled on both.
Use Sygate personal firewall on both with sharing enabled. Computer names are
unique, workgroup is same, Guest account enabled on both. ICS works just
fine, both computers can access the internet. In network places on Gateway I
can see the workgroup, then the Dell, then its documents which I can and have
accessed. In network places on Dell, open entire network, lengthy wait and I
can see the workgroup. Open workgroup, another lengthy wait and I recieve the
following message.

Workgoup name is not accessable. You might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you
have access permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not
currently available.

Re: XP Home Edition.... Home Network.... Access Denied

Turn off all the firewalls and see if it works. Suggest to enable Legacy
style sharing in the Local Sec Policy. Make sure that SMB signing is
disabled. Share out the individual folders with a sharename. Give the
workstations an easy name to remember Don't use the guest account. Create a
common account on both machines and use that for authentication. Then
connect using \\computername\sharename.

Keep in mind, Home will not remember mapped drives. Maybe easier to create a
batch file you can double click on each time you bring the computer up.
