DNS event id 4521 after upgrading to Windows server 2003 std. SP2

Hi,

I have windows server 2003 std. server which I upgraded to SP2 2 days ago.
DNS was fine before that but now I am getting this event ID 4521 every 3
minutes. Following is the details:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: DNS
Event Category: None
Event ID: 4521
Date: 3/15/2008
Time: 11:51:03 AM
User: N/A
Computer: MAINSERVER
Description:
The description for Event ID ( 4521 ) in Source ( DNS ) cannot be found.
The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message
DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use
the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for
details. The following information is part of the event: 9002, ..

I am not good in server troubleshooting. Can anybody help me?

Any feedback will be appreciated...

Thanks in advance..

Re: DNS event id 4521 after upgrading to Windows server 2003 std.

Hi Meinolf,

Thanks for your reply. I checked the link you sent me but the weird thing is
that I am not able to apply the command "dnscmd" from command prompt. It's
saying me it's not valid internal or external command. Am I doing something
wrong or is anything missing?

Any thoughts? Any ideas will be appreciated..

Thanks,
Hemal

Re: DNS event id 4521 after upgrading to Windows server 2003 std.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. I am able to use the dnscmd tool form support
tools but now when I try to use the command "dnscmd 'servername' /config
'Zonename' /bootmethod".

It give me the following error message:

" DNS Server failed to reset registry properly.
Status = 9553 (0x00002551)
Command failed: DNS_ERROR_INVALID_PROPERTY 9553 <00002551>"

I tried to run "dnscmd 'servername' /zoneinfo 'Zonename' "
The output of this command is as below:

"Zone Info:

ptr = 00082FD8
Zone name = kbgca.lcoal
zone type = 1
update = 1
DS integrated = 1
data file = <null>
using wins= 0
using nbstat = 0
aging = 0
refresh interval = 168
no refresh = 168
scavenge available = 0
Zone masters
Null IP Arrays
Zone secondaries
Null IP arrays
secure secs = 3
directory partition = AD-legacy flags 00000012
Zone DN= DC=kbgca.local, cn=MicorsoftDNS, cn=system, DC=kbgca,DC=local
Command completed successfully."

Please try to find what am I doing wrong or what should I do.

Thank you very much in advance for you time and help.

Hi Meinolf,

Wow !!! You are absolutely right.. It's case sensitive syntax. All the
events disappeared from my server after dnscmd /Config /BootMethod command.

Thanks a lot for you all time and help. I really appreciate it by heart !!!
If I have any other questions in future, I will surely ask you in this forum..

Thanks again.
