A fix for FileError_22001

Has anybody found a fix for FileError_22001?

Why are all the anti virus companies so quiet on this virus, I spent an hour
in a chat room with Norton, no help, no advice, just the offer three times of
connecting straight to my computer for 120 AU$ which I found strange as I
live in malaysia.

I have lost over 3,000 photo's due to the corruption caused by
FileError_22001 I'm guessing there are lots of others badly affected loosing
word, excel and JPEG files to the ravages of this nasty Malware. My fiance is
really upset as all our personal photos are lost too.

Any assistance greatfully accepted on how to restore these corrupted files.

Re: A fix for FileError_22001

The best I can tell from some Googling is that the "malware" was yet another
trojan downloader. Unfortunately, it's beginning to look like the "payload"
program corrupts those files by overwriting - the simple solution is to
replace
corrupted files with ones from your known clean backups.

I know, I know, it's not something you want to hear - but this (corruption)
is why you need to implement a backup strategy. Unfortunately there is no
way to prevent this kind of intentional corruption any more than there is a
way to prevent sudden harddrive failure.

RE: A fix for FileError_22001

Sounds like a plan.

OK, I have downloaded the TE33Decryptor and am running it now.

In the information window it reads as follows

Searching for main key...Found!
Search and decrypting files:
C:\Documents and settings\my name\local settings\application data\CDD

So it seems to be churning away at the moment

In the address bar on the bottom, the file number is ticking away.

During the process the c drive hit capicity so I was looking for files that
I could delete, however the only folder with any files with size that I could
find were in

C:\Documents and settings\my name\local settings\application data\FLR

So I am moving half of the contents of the folder to a USB memory stick
while the app runs in the background.

It is clearing some space on the c drive but I have no idea how it will
effect the app.

I'm hoping the CDD folder and FLR folder are both the same as they had the
same number of files and were the same size before I moved half the folders
from the FLR folder.

RESULT === WE HAVE A RESULT Waaahoooo!!!!!

Photos seem to be returning.

Merry Christmas to all.

Thanks to David H. Lipman, but special thanks to DrWeb who has made our
Christmas.

Dear DrWeb,

I can't tell you how much you have made our christmas.

You are a wondeful person.

I'm not sure how you managed it but there is a very happy house here tonight.

May you have a wonderful Xmas.

If you can see fit to contacting me directly I would like to say thanks
personally.

Most Sincere Thanks and a Very Merry Christmas.

Re: A fix for FileError_22001

Hi,
I have managed to download the TE33Decryptor and started to run it but
the main key was not found and therefore not been able to recover all
my photo's?
I've recovered about 10% of my JPEG images though and for that I am so
gratefull as I thought that I would never see some of these photo's
ever again.
Any ideas why it hasn't been able to encrypt all the other photo's?

Many thanks to drweb for your help recover these important files not
just for me but everyone else around the world - MERRY CHRISTMAS

RE: A fix for FileError_22001

drweb,

I downloaded your fix for this $%#^))#@ problem, my wife lost all her photos
and family history files. Not to mention other documents. Your program told
me it couldn't find the main key, and I was unable to recover any of the
files. I don't know if my wife removed that info, when she tried to restore
and reload her hard drive (I was away at the time).

I have removed her hard drive and conected it to my note book (i back up
almost daily), I have done a search of all files created or modified on the
day her computer got hit (it appears she reloaded almost all of her programs
on that day). My question is what and where would I look on that hard drive
for the main key?

Would it be in a main registry file or a sub folder. If she hadn't reloaded
all the programs, it would have been easier for me to look, or send you dvd's
of all the files that had been created/modified on that day.

Please help, because I wasn't here it's my fault :}
