When comparing security between antivir and avast theres really not much of a dif. So if installing avast fixes your problem, personally id say just switch over to it.

Can always scan the file you want to transfer before putting it on your flash drive. After that you know your not transfering an infected file.

It sounds like that did remove it from your computer...if you were worm free for a couple months im assuming you just got it a 2nd time. some website your going to is giving it to you.

Sounds Virtually Identical to the Koobface worm accept koobface uses facebook. i got rid of koobface with a couple of quick/full scans of malwarebytes. Maybe it will work for mydoom also.
