PremiumAV is a straightforward antivirus that keeps your system protected from various threats. It is an all in one package offering you overall security. It has all in one virus protection support. With simple user interface PremiumAV Antivirus works well in detecting and deleting threats. I had tested it on some infected files, where it actively located the virus and removed it. It is a common behavior of most antivirus that they first quarantine the file. They extract the file information so that it can be used in future to detect similar threats. Premium AV is also very lightweight. The ram consumption is quiet low here. A combination of PremiumAV + Microsoft Security Essential is quiet enough to keep your system secure. Now this antivirus not loaded with extra stuff, commonly provided in all in one internet security package. Like a startup scanner, system restore, etc. it target the system files mostly to keep then clean and make your system protect. Almost all antivirus has issue to detect stealth virus. PremiumAV actively works on any malware, adware, spyware, Trojan, worm, detected and wipe it out. But it is missing some useful features. Like phishing. It does not block a web page which can be manifested with malware. It is one of the most important features because everyone today use internet.

And they click blindly on links. Number of time this links are hijacked where an end user is drawn to some other location that can add malware instantly in your system. The most common example is free downloads. So here PremiumAV does not work on it. It is a PC antivirus which is active on the offline part. Designed by Maya Software, an Indian software development company, Premium AV looks impressive. This is the first antivirus version they build, and going ahead to provide more advance options. It is cheaper as it is a new product in the market. a single user pack of Premium AV come for Rs.200 and 3 user pack comes for Rs.400. but we have to test whether it is capable of giving you full protection or not. In terms of security people more trust big brands. As they are more powerful and actively working on day to day threats. Here PremiumAV might not give you advance features, but it is capable of wiping out any threat residing in your system. Things are more manual here

UI & Features:

At first look Premium AV has a basic interface. It is very complicated to believe that this antivirus really works well in detecting threats. Because I had already worked a lot on Norton, ESET, AVAST and Trend Micro. They come loaded with tons of new things trying to improvise the security. But sometime this overloaded feature slow down the system. Here PremiumAV as I said consume low amount of ram. This makes it a bit better compare to other. But still being a new product it might take time to get more and more accurate in fixing complex threats. PremiumAV Antivirus is easy to use. It has minimum feature which target internal virus scanning mostly. It has a simple two column layout where on the left you have regular sections and on the right side an info Window. The antivirus offers you reasonable scanning options. Unlike other antivirus it works on virus definition which his updated automatically. It is necessary that you must keep the antivirus updated. It is more accurate when located with the latest info.

After clicking at the bottom section on Details next to Quick Memory Analysis you can find a short popup window that shows you information on current programs loaded in the memory. This box also gives information on the full path. So if there is any rogue antivirus or malware in your system and it is working in the backside through this you can find the correct location and delete it. This is a bit impressive feature, but it is limited. Like you cannot end any task through here. You can just view it. To turn off any running service you will have to use Task Manager. Click on the Service and choose End Task. Default way of killing a program.

The scan section offers you basic features like manually scanning a folder or a hard drive or a partition. From here you cannot scan an usb. You have to click on the Scan folder button and then choose the pen drive. But if there is a virus in the usb, it will detect it. The antivirus has a few settings for Scan options. Like what you want to do when the file is detected. It offers you options like Quarantine, Cure, Delete or Skip. Any of this settings is applied, the antivirus will act instantly when a threat appear. It is simple for everyone to operate.

Threat Detection:

Premium AV work on signature based detection. It stores a similar virus file pattern in the hard drive through which it matches known virus. Well there is nothing available to track unknown threats. But through regular database update you can find more and more accurate solution. The antivirus works fine and quiet lightweight. But it lacks some important features. Like some antivirus comes with an online database support. That means if the internal virus definition is corrupted by the virus, the antivirus takes help through online virus signature update and fix the system. Premium AV completely relies on update. Major antivirus today had added the cloud support. Due to which they are able to give you overall protection. The antivirus passes the EICAR test. After putting a safe malware code in the system the antivirus acts instantly deleting it. So here the Real Time projection looks like working well. But limited features make it less effective. Here we have nothing to deal with phishing or popup. The antivirus act only if a file or code is copied on your system hard drive.

Conclusion:

Premium AV is a standard antivirus solution for everyone. It is also quiet cheaper compare to others. A single user pack will cost you around Rs.200 and a 3 user pack will cost you Rs.400. The benefit of having it is that it is low on ram usage. It does not consume much system resource. Many antivirus are overloaded with features which you are never going to use. They consume system ram ceasing other application to slow down. Some of them simply scan everything after a regular time interval. Here I will not say Premium AV is a kind of complete solution. But it is good enough for a single system. To use you need an active internet connection so that regular updates can make it more accurate.
