    BlackBerry Curve 9220

If you are going for the blackberry phone just because of the BBM and the emailing function and you are willing for something which is having the latest OS and cost you about Rs. 10990 then this phone is going to b perfect choice for you.

This is a smartphone without 3G base and a 2 MP camera but that was an incredible success. You will get access to Instant Messaging with BlackBerry Messenger, your social feeds and email service to RIM. On the basis of that success RIM has released the BlackBerry Curve 9220 with some incremental changes, the same philosophy on custody and many new functions. To put it in one line with other blackberry phones, the BlackBerry Curve 9220 is slightly thinner and more stylish as compared to its predecessor BlackBerry Curve 8520 with the presence of the new BlackBerry firmware 7.1. This is having an FM radio but in our opinion, the most interesting part is the battery. This is definitely having the best battery of any other recent release of the BlackBerry Smartphone.

If you are familiar with the BlackBerry Curve 8520 then Curve 9220 will not give you much surprise. As car makers announcing a redesign of an old car headlights changing or adding some new accessories, RIM BlackBerry Curve 9220 has made it most elegant and made it of thickness 1.2 mm. The screen resolution of 320 x 240, which is quite similar and does not add anything new compared to the Curve 8520.

The optical trackpad - which for some years has replaced the trackball is doing very good with all other BlackBerry, making navigation a breeze. However lighting of the edge of the trackpad much like the BlackBerry Bold 9900 is missing and is understandable in a low-end Smartphone’s. The QWERTY keyboard is pretty good and there were some small variations from the Curve 8520. Notice the buttons slightly larger and some small design changes that make typing on the BlackBerry Curve 9220 a pleasure. The media keys are not present at the top as in the Curve 8520. It true that on the right side they have added a small pause button between those of the volume this BlackBerry Curve 9220 lacks media keys. The socket for the headphone jack of 3.5 mm is moved upward with the usual button to lock the keyboard. The slot micro USB for charging the battery is on the left side while for the microsd is beneath the battery is slightly shifted in the upper part of the device.

    Re: BlackBerry Curve 9220

In terms of weight, the BlackBerry Curve 9220 feels very good in the hand even if it loses a few grams compared to the predecessor of the Curve 8520. It’s easier to hold and this is thanks to the slimmer profile. The BlackBerry Curve 9220 will also be available in a range of colors very specific targeted to the youth segment including red, purple, blue, white and of course the classic black.

In terms of the interface, we can say that the new firmware BlackBerry 7.1 offers unparalleled user experience when compared to the 5.0 firmware of the Curve 8520. The Curve 9220 comes with 512 MB of RAM and the execution of various programs becomes fast and direct, without the appearance of the much-hated waiting time. The software on the BlackBerry Curve 9220 comes with the Premium version of Documents To Go that offers document editing functions and a native PDF viewer. This makes it ideal for all types of office use and even among students. It is also pre-loaded BlackBerry Protect that allows you to backup and store personal data securely in the cloud and it could also help in identifying the lost device.

The BlackBerry Browser Webkit is based on BlackBerry OS 7 and that is improved as compared to its predecessor. The rendering of Web pages is greatly improved and the addition of navigation tabs makes access to the internet easy and fast. Like all BlackBerry Smartphone’s, multimedia playback remains a delight. The BlackBerry Curve 9220 supports 720p video that is reproducing a wide range of formats without problems. The sound quality is crisp and excellent that we liked immediately. This is having very interesting feature of FM radio. This becomes more important when we travel by train or going to office.

Speaking of mobile network, The new BlackBerry Curve 9220 offers nothing new as compared to its big brother BlackBerry Curve 8520. The most glaring omission is the lack of connection to the 3G network. We understand the need to keep costs low for an entry-level Smartphone but we do not believe that a module for 3G connection could move the price up. Speaking of connectivity, despite the presence of OS 7.1, the BlackBerry Curve 9220 is not characterized by the presence of the hotspot Wi-Fi like all other BlackBerry smartphone 7. The function of Wi-Fi hotspot is used best when we are under coverage of a 3G network. There is nothing to use the GPS BlackBerry maps or any other browser designed for Smartphone’s from RIM. True that we can work with external GPS antenna but it needs certain costs.

    Re: BlackBerry Curve 9220

There is a 2 MP camera like the BlackBerry Curve 8520 and the images are grainy, especially under artificial light. As we said earlier that this comes with better battery, the BlackBerry Curve 9220 is having battery of 1450 mAh and is better than any other recent BlackBerry. Just to let you know, a BlackBerry Bold 9900 smartphone comes with 3G radio, NFC and a high-resolution touchscreen display and has a 1230 mAh battery. This allows for truly exceptional performance with video playback continued close at 7.5 hours or 2 hours of music streaming. Also do not forget that the BlackBerry firmware 7.1 also offers a battery saving mode and can set the threshold levels. However, this feature is a must for the number of BlackBerry smartphone 7 and will remain unused in the BlackBerry Curve 9220.

    Re: BlackBerry Curve 9220

In conclusion the BlackBerry Curve 9220 does not bear comparison when compared with Android devices that offer features such as 3G, GPS and mobile hotspot for the same price. It's true but a chat features like BlackBerry Messenger and management of fast email typing on the QWERTY keyboard make it a smart phone to keep in absolute consideration especially for those who plan to divest the BlackBerry Curve 8520. Overall, this is having appreciable battery, form factor, keyboard and dedicated button to BBM. It is also true that if you want more performance with support for 3G then it will be better to wait for the BlackBerry Curve 9320.

It looks very nice but I wonder why it has 2MP camera. The phone is a basic device not meant to compete with high end devices but just with feature phones/entry level smartphones.
