Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 Mobile Phone

    Introduction

The new smartphone Samsung Galaxy Ace is now available in the market for approximately 230 EUR without branding, in onyx-black color. With its compact dimensions, it fits easily into any pocket, and the 3.5 inch screen is big enough to do well from time to exploring the world wide web. The operating system is still not the Android 2.3 to date, but can be upgraded so far. The 5 MP camera with flash is more than good just to take quick snapshots, videos are only possible with 320 x 240 pixel resolution. The resulting photos and video clips can also be stored properly, and the Ace supports MicroSD cards up to a size of 32 GB. Naturally, it has HSDPA (with speed of up to 7.2 Mbit / s) and WLAN are also on board. How does this mobile phone behave in day to day life, we have tested.

    Processing Features

The touch-screen mobile phone is made up of plastic and the material quality is also absolutely fine. It fits comfortably in your hand, through the back with a textured surface, which easily slides out of anyones hands, however the other decreases the susceptibility to scratching, for example - the battery compartment cover can be opened easily, and also sits accurately. The Samsung Galaxy Ace comes for a weight of 113 grams and has dimensions of 112 x 60 x 11.5 mm - it's still flat. The 3.5 inch touch screen is measured relatively quickly, the resolution of 320 x 480 pixels appears to us but with something coarse - for example, diagonal lines can not be shown always clean, and details such as when viewing photos appear a little pixelated every now and then. The scope of the supplied items is standard - a USB Cable and also a 2 GB MicroSD cards are offered.

    Business functions

Samsung Galaxy Ace is a Qaudband mobile phone with WCDMA and comes with a 800 MHz processor, which gives a good performance in midfield. For common business applications or the Daily Use, there is sufficient power. Surfing the Web is very fluid, the load times are short and over HSDPA with WLAN-n again around, it is 1 second faster. A longer push on the center of the home screen button also opens a Task Manager and can display what applications are currently active. Unnecessary, not currently required apps and programs running in the background can be closed to get more memory that can increase the speed of the phone.

The basic qualities for a phone can be quite impressive. Such as the good quality of the network even with a sufficient network coverage, voice reproduction can be also described as successful. Both the speaker and the interlocutor can be pleased with the clear and natural voice reproduction. The built-in loudspeaker for handsfree also scores point, however, one should not adjust the level too high.

Regarding the integrated interconnection standards, one can not understand why Samsung Bluetooth 3.0 is omitted and is satisfied with 2.1, as a pioneer in this model to the contemporary feature. In return, the WLAN integration and the fastest-n standard has been considered. Headphones can be connected at the 3.5 mm jack connector so you are free in the choice of headphones. HSDPA is supported with up to 7.2 Mbps - here if you have some complain about too little speed, look at what is in the data plan from your carrier and what your current location to the speed is available.

Using the USB port, the Samsung will be connected to the PC using the supplied cable and is easily recognized as a USB mass storage. Synchronization of contacts and calendar as well as data and also of media files can be performed with Samsung gravel. The software must be installed on the pc by the user before the first synchronization, which requires a short time. Being typically an Android smartphone - equipped with a Google account, it needs no PC to sync, after entering account name and password, the phone pulls data from the net. Practically, the social hub, where you can have a quick overview of all new messages can be also visible (bundled: Facebook, Twitter, e-mail, SMS).

Surfing the net makes a lot of joy, the two-finger zoom function works very well, the touch screen responds very sensitively. Only, somewhat short length of the bottom lighting controls integrated interfere minimally. The display fairly represents true color, the resolution is marginal for seasoned users, this also applies to the size of 3.5 inches. E-mail accounts are created quickly, even with manual input of all relevant information.

150 MB of internal memory is very little, however, memory expansion via SD cards are supported up to 32GB.

The lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 1350 mAh to be normal for this class smartphone. Maximum of upto 1.5 days in intensive usage and up to 3 days with normal usage, the phone can perform.

Voice - List; recording: stop, pause, cancel, delete, rename, share, Bluetooth, Messages, Email, Gmail, the reproduction of the recording sounds is good, of course, but has slight noise in the background. The recording can also be described as quite useful. There are far worse results in smartphones.

Other features - Clock: Alarm; AllShare for streaming via WiFi (Data can be transferred from the mobile phone and other media players in the network works just fine), access to the Android Market. Google Tools: Gmail, Google Search, Maps, Places (points of interest near the current location, such as restaurants or ATMs) Latitude, navigation. Other features: direct access YouTube Places, news and weather, ThinkFree Office (Microsoft Office compatible suite), Calculator, Samsung Apps, Task Manager, SIM Toolkit.

The quad-band mobile phone provides a very fast data transfer. 1.5 to a maximum of 3 days of battery life for a cell phone with these features is acceptable. Contacts and calendar are up to the standard. Preset profiles are nowhere, because only a different sound settings are applied. The memo is shown graphically and is quite beautiful and has no character limit. Samsung Galaxy Ace has a voice recorder. This intelligibility scores with good shooting, even with minimal noise in the background. Email accounts are set in a few steps and getting the mail depends on the size and attachment and thus downloaded with ease in quite few seconds. Finding and Opening elaborate web pages on the Galaxy Ace has no problems and hardly takes any time. The sync options are numerous. If you want to use the full potential, it is recommended to create a Google account or link to an existing Google Account. The Samsung Galaxy Ace has a wide selection of different features, which makes it appear more interesting. Even thousands of apps from the Android Market or Samsung apps are available (some are even free).

Memory expansion via Micro SD cards support up to 32 GB is located on the side of the phone

    Multimedia Features

We were a little surprised when the colors and shapes in low light conditions and indoors during daylight hours in still imaging mode were pretty well represented. Viewed on a PC monitor, it lacks a bit of the color intensity. There is no shutter lag hardly. At dusk and at night it can also achieve results but not so great. Thanks to the flash, it can capture one or the other motive. Colors are represented minimally, but are still clearly visible.

The video recording quality naturally suffers from low resolution, so you have to see the results in this context. In daylight (outside) and normal lighting conditions (indoors), colors are fairly represented, of course. The adaptation to different light conditions is succeeded by the Galaxy Ace fairly quickly. Pixels will be visible veil, if not clean sliding movements are made. With flowing movements great results are achieved - at least if you look on the small screen. Viewed on a HD PC monitor, the results do not arouse enthusiasm. In the dark, it can also hardly achieve successful clip. One should not give up the video light, because at low light you can still detect a faint outline and coloring. To get a better result, we recommend to go closer to the subject.

The tone qualities as Music and Mediaplayer are neat. The built-in speaker is positioned at the back of the mobile phone, but can still easily play all the songs with perfect sound. Better the result is, of course, if the phone is turned towards the speaker. The Galaxy Ace also has an equalizer too. This allows a fine tuning to be made in some songs. The included headphone sounds not very detailed, but still relatively homogenous.

Camera equipment - 5 MP camera with flash, shooting mode: Single image, smiles, series, panoramic, scene mode: None, Portrait, Landscape, Night, Sports, Party / indoor, beach / snow, sunset, dawn, autumn colors, fireworks, text, candlelight, backlight, Flash: Off, On, Auto photo light; settings: Exposure value: -2.0 to +2.0; Focus Mode: Auto Focus, Macro, Self-timer: Off, 2 sec, 5 sec, 10 sec ; resolution: 5M (2560x1920), 3.2M (2048x1536), 2M (1600x1200), 1.3M (1280x960), 0.3M (640x480), White Balance: Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Tungsten, Fluorescent; Effects: Normal, Negative, Black / White, Sepia, ISO Auto, 100, 200, 400; measurement: average weighted, Spot, Matrix, Automatic contrast: on / off, image quality: Very Fine, Fine, Normal, Customize: Contrast, Saturation, Sharpness: -2 to +2; guides: on / off, check: Off, 2 sec, A; GPS integration: on / off, Shutter Sound: Sound 1, 2, 3, Off, Reset, post-processing options: Sharing: AllShare , Bluetooth, Email, Gmail, News, Picasa, Set as: screen background lock, home background, buddy icon, more information: title, type, date, album, city, latitude, longitude, size, trim, turn left, turn right turn, slide show, zoom.

Music / Mediaplayer - Music formats: MP3 AAC; forward, rewind, pause, stop, Now Playing, random play is on / off, repeat repeat all songs, current song, Repeat is off, Artists, Albums, Songs, Playlists: last added, library, party shuffle add to playlist settings: 5.1-channel (only in headphone mode), Equalizer: normal, rock, jazz, classical, dance, pop, live, concert hall, wide, musical clarity, bass boost, externalization; set as a ringtone; Delete.

Radio - Preferences: Region: Europe, USA, background music: on / off; Show Sender ID: on / off; alternative Frequency: on / off, FM Auto Off, after after 30 minutes, after 1 hour, 2 hours, the menu of the radio is easy to use. The discriminatory power of each transmitter, in a favorable orientation of the antenna (headset) gives great sound output.

The camera of the Galaxy Ace is very easy to use and delivers great results with ornamental balance when creating pictures. In video mode, you can not really be satisfied with what is already at the maximum possible resolution. The built-in media player and FM radio can score with impeccable features. The mobile phone has 150 MB internal memory (very small) and is expandable with Micro SD cards up to 32GB.

    Handling / Menus

For the most important features, one-handed operation is possible, which is also due to its compact dimensions and ergonomically comfortable shape of the Samsung Galaxy Ace. New contacts are created quickly, a call can be made without much prior knowledge. It is not so simple to operate in direct sunlight because the screen is mirrored and then it's hard to recognize all the content. Compensate for this is the responsive touch screen. The menus clearly marked with the menu sub-items dropped, depending on how many apps can be loaded on the smart phone, as the extent for same is sparse or abundant. The home screen can be changed and adapted. Overall, the Galaxy Ace is easy to use, anyone who has had an Android phone will feel at ease immediately.

    Navigation Menu

    Overall Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy Ace makes no significant weaknesses, but convinces as a solid phone for everyday use. Solidly equipped to meet the expectations of users for mobile internet - management of e-mails, Web browsing, downloading applications - whether at the level of responsiveness and autonomy, the Galaxy Ace comes for an affordable price. Its multimedia capabilities are certainly faced with a limited features, but the quality of photos taken with the 5 megapixel sensor is a pleasant surprise. Level of autonomy, the Galaxy Ace does pretty well, with nearly 9 hours of talk time, 4:50 in web browsing on 3G or 6 hours 45 minutes playing video performance rarely matched with Android smartphones. With a download speed easily reaching more than 2.5 Mbit / s, the device also allows 3G to surf the web in comfort.
