    Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 Motherboard

Gigabyte launches motherboards based on the Z68 chipset, this chipset takes the best of the previous chipset P67 and H67, overclocking capabilities, support for SLI and Crossfire in the first and the compatibility of the integrated graphics of the second. You will solve the P67 chipset original problems in regard to the problem with Sata 2, since all the Z68 come with this problem corrected, yet the manufacturers have decided to keep the nomenclature B3 so that users are satisfied not encounter this problem when purchasing a motherboard based on the Z68 chipset.

The socket is currently dominated 1155 and Sandy Bridge processors. This time we have the third chipset that comes to the well-known company and P67 H67. The Z68 chipset is a combination of these two chipsets the Z68 chipset brings the advantage of making use of video outputs to harness the GPU built into our processor, as seen in the H67 and chipset overclock our CPU as the P67 chipset. In addition to these features has been introduced we find that the acceleration of our hard drives in conjunction with a SSD with Intel Smart Response Technology and the use of technology to leverage our LucidLogix Virtu discrete GPU with integrated Intel graphics.

The board makes a good impression, even superficially. More recently, Gigabyte uses a black matte finish to the PCB, which looks very beautiful in itself, well, when, as in this case, this style has its registration and other (black sockets, radiators, dark gray, burnished socket) - is obtained simply by yum! A close study of additional wiring does not bring delight, but does not bring disappointment and all in their places, all conveniently. Because of missed seven slots for expansion cards there is no interference in memory, low radiator on the chipset and "laid on its side" SATA connectors allow you to set all the slots in the card of any size, power connectors - the traditional places. Perhaps, slots for memory modules are attached to the processor socket, so the overall cooler and memory modules with dimensions radiators may interfere with the assembly.

    Re: Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 Motherboard

    Motherboard socket 1155

Making a clean sweep of the past Gigabyte has decided to leave behind the mishaps encountered with the P67 to concentrate on the new primary controller of Intel, the Z68. The Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD5 is designed from the controller, and supports the second generation of Intel Core i3, i5, i7. This new generation of 32nm processors takes advantage of reduced power consumption and benefit from the Turbo Boost technology 2.0 and Hyper Threading, which allow them to be up to 15% more efficient. Equipped with three PCI-Express 16x, this motherboard supports both Crossfire Technology that SLI technology and allows you to run two graphics cards together simultaneously.

Motherboard Gigabyte Z68X-UD5-B3 is made in the form factor ATX. PCB dimensions are 305 mm in length and 244 mm in width. The board's design rather strict and without any frills. As mentioned above, the black color gives the board some flavor and unusual. Indeed, until recently on a black PCB board was not so much. But fashion changes the taste, so Gigabyte has decided to slightly dilute the blackness with the cooling system. Radiators gray with golden inscriptions and blue stripes give the board a charm, reinforcing the impression of a top product.

    BIOS

Navigation through the BIOS to change the system settings can be an extremely complex task for inexperienced users, especially since the mouse is not supported. With Touch BIOS, GIGABYTE engineers have completely redesigned the way the user interacts with the BIOS of the motherboard, to offer an experience more intuitive and user friendly. Based on the EFI BIOS Touch makes it possible to navigate through menus richer and more explicit and thanks to your mouse.

    Access your Files on Boot

Developed by Intel and integrated for the first time on the Z68 chipset technology SSD Caching allows you to transform an area of SSD cache, to speed access to the most frequently accessed files. Dedicate a SSD for the operating system can certainly benefit from a faster startup and will not slow down over time. If your machine also includes a standard hard drive, so data and applications on it do not take advantage of the speed increase of SSD, the worse it this flange.

The Intel Smart Response Technology helps balance the deal, acting as a large storage area where files are kept and the most used applications. So if you have a low-capacity SSDs, this feature allows you to speed up your entire system, not just the start. You will of course the possibility to equip a new larger capacity SSD and enjoy both of a much faster start and a more responsive environment.

    SATA 3.0

One of the many benefits of GIGABYTE motherboards based on the Intel P67 is the management of hard disks and other storage device SATA Revision 3.0. In fact the Intel P67 supports this standard allows transfer rates of up to 6 Gbps (twice the transfer rate of SATA II). Incorporating two-port SATA Revision 3.0 GIGABYTE motherboards based on Intel P67 allows the controller to use RAID technology to further increase transfer speeds.

    Memory

Use strips of memory can be of 1, 2, 4 and 8 GB. Maximum RAM at filling all the slots will be 32 GB. It supports all the basic frequency of the memory. Support for the overclocked does not say on the board, nor the user manual. Naturally, the board will work at frequencies above 2133 MHz memory. This requires a reference clock to overclock the processor BCLK. But because of the peculiarities of the platform acceleration bus is very low, so that the limit for memory with even nitrogen cooling would be 2300-2400 MHz.

    Re: Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 Motherboard

    Connections

The board is very rich and colorful rear panel. However, the apparent diversity is reduced to a combination of quite obvious ports: 2 USB 3.0 + USB 2.0 + 7 1 USB / eSATA + 1 eSATA. Plus, the power outlet, FireWire, and all kinds of audio outputs. Plus, combined PS / 2, with an unusually located on the bottom. Very good set, which fully corresponds to modern board level is above average.

The board is based on Intel chipset Z68 (single axle Z68), the possibilities of which you can learn from a review article on the link. In addition, the board features:
    • 2 controller USB 3.0, based on the chip EtronTech EJ168A (interface PCIEx1), with support for total of 4 devices (2 ports on the back)
    • 2 controller SATA-III, based on the chip Marvell 88SE9172 (interface PCIEx1), with support for total of 4 devices SATA600 (implemented as a two port eSATA-III on the back and two connectors on the PCB SATA600)
    • Integrated sound on the 10-channel (7.1 +2) HDA-codec Realtek ALC889, with optical and coaxial S / PDIF output on the rear panel connector and S / PDIF-Out on the PCB
    • Network controller based on the chip Realtek RTL8111E (interface PCIEx1), supporting 10/100/1000 Mbit / s (Gigabit Ethernet)
    • Controller FireWire, based on chip VIA VT6308P (Interface PCI), supporting 2 ports (one on the rear panel)
    • Controller PCI, based on the bridge PCIe-PCI ITE IT8892E, with support for 3 devices PCI (implemented in the form of two slots, and an interface for connecting FireWire-controller).

One of the drawbacks of chipsets Intel P67/Z68 compared with Intel X58 is the smaller number of lines of PCI-Express. Therefore, even for merging two video cards in the mode of X16 + X16 to use third-party chips, such as the nForce 200 chip. Support such a chip has got just the older Gigabyte board family Z68 - Z68X-UD7-B3. And the younger you only limited PCI Express lanes in conjunction X8 + X8.

On the test results comrade Phoenix that the difference in bandwidth between the formulas X16 + X16 and X8 + X8 is quite low. And, in my opinion, the additional overpayments other things being equal, it is not necessary. Compared with the older model has a couple of smaller and SATA connectors. Altogether there are six internal card. Two of them are white and correspond to versions of SATA 6 Gb / s, for numbering - it's 1 and 2 connectors. From the third through sixth slots are black and SATA 3 Gb / sec.

    ON / OFF load

Thanks to this ingenious innovations you can charge your USB devices even if your PC is off or in sleep! Convenient to charge your MP3 player or phone the night without any need to leave your machine running. This innovation is thus both practical and economical, no doubt that once you have tasted it, and you cannot do without!

    USB 3.0

Thanks to the integrated controller GA-P67A-UD5 is compatible with the new USB 3.0 standard. This theory allows transfers of up to 640 MB / sec, or roughly 10x times faster than current USB 2.0 standard. More USB 3.0 ports are backward compatible with USB 2.0 allowing you a smooth transition into the USB 2.0 and USB 3.0.

    Package Content
    • User manual & Quick Start Guide
    • A reminder that the connectors LGA1155 and LGA1156 compatible
    • Bracket for the rear wall of the housing (I / O Shield)
    • Four cable SATA 3 Gb / s
    • SLI bridge to join two video cards NVIDIA
    • The panel for external 3.5''-inch bay with two ports USB 3.0. It is made of black aluminum, and for its retention in the body kit put in four bolt
    • Logos of Gigabyte and Dolby Home Theater
    • CD with drivers and software.

    Conclusion

To start again, we do not see much sense in this particular board, and generally a series of Gigabyte's Z68 without the support of integrated graphics: firstly, the chipset technology Smart Response, the only distinguishing it from the boards at P67 (and more money!), Not so good. Second, this series is obviously confusing inexperienced users - after all, not all are able to guess that before buying an integrated chipset on board is necessary to check its specifications for the support of the embedded video.

If you omit this moment (let's say you are determined to connect his life with Smart Response), the board is good and quite promising in terms of the acquisition. From the typical mid-range model of its increased functionality differ (two controllers USB 3.0, two additional SATA 3.0) and extended application support, and the money not spent on (for many unnecessary) "hardware" technology. A good combination of performance, trouble-free operation, nice appearance - what more need to to age? Of special mention Touch BIOS - a pleasant variety in a series of implementations of UEFI BIOS.
