The functionality after a malfunction, causing the device to become a paperweight temporary until he decided to play nice. Fortunately, Toshiba put on a good, big red cape and came to the rescue around the world. An update OTA for the tablet is now available through Toshiba Utility Service Station, an application Thrive (I hope not any way to delete). Follow and ensure that we hear should be a relatively quick download.

    Re: Toshiba Thrive 10” Tablet

    Android OS

Toshiba Thrive comes with an Android 3, 1 Honeycomb, who has limited ability to view files on external storage devices. To circumvent this problem, Thrive ships with its own file manager application that allows you to flash drives and SD cards, and to copy files from the tablet. The File Manager is not elegantly - he does not drop, and copy and paste files you want to talk more and OK-ING, than is necessary - but it works.

Strategically, it makes more sense for Toshiba, to begin their big push Android with the pill; they are already deep into the consumer PC market. From a development perspective, I have to wonder how the work with a cell may differ from that of a mobile platform. With Toshiba and mobile computing operations in two different groups, we were not able to get much more information in the phone against. Tablets landscape for the company.

    Design & Connectivity

Toshiba unique development take Android and brings continuity between traditional and computer tablet. This includes two full-sized USB-ports, Mini-USB, HDMI-out full-size, full-size SD memory card slot, docking port and connects in addition to more standard power. It has a 5 megapixel rear camera, 2Deputat front of the camera, and runs on Tegra 2 processor running Android 3.1. As you can see (above and below), some accessories will be available, including docks, cases, and color options. One great addition is to lock the hardware rotation button, which will prevent your screen from auto rotating, great for those times when you're lounging around and do not want to disturb the random shifts of angle convenience.

And if you do not like black plastic back shell - or if you break it, taking it on and off, which seems highly unlikely, given its flexibility - it's removable, too. Toshiba sells a variety of colored plastic back for $ 20 each. Finally, thrive boasts a collection of ports closer to what you see on a laptop than a tablet. For the rubber panel on the bottom edge of the HDMI port, full-sized USB-port and port mini-USB. Just around the corner from those sitting SD card slot. Through these ports, you can connect all kinds of external drives for the expansion of internal memory tablet. Thrive is delivered with up to 32 GB on board, but the cheapest model has 8 GB. With such meager storage, all the possibilities of expanding a huge plus.

The USB port can also be used to mount a full-size keyboard and mouse. It added a lot of versatility who complain about the touch keyboard. Of course, ports, large screen and removable back to Thrive harder, but you should not worry too much about it. The difference between the prosperous and IPad 2 is only about one-third of a pound. It's still comfortable enough to hold with one hand, or rest on your lap.

    Multimedia

Video, for the most part, satisfactory. Videos on YouTube and Vimeo played fine in both Flash and HTML 5 players, and even those videos in HD. But when I downloaded some MP4 files I ripped at 720p, playback was a bit jerky. Thrive on the screen is quite bright enough and has a 1280 × 800 pixels. This is not the best I've seen (Galaxy Tab has a better screen Androids, but it's good enough. Stereo speakers along the bottom edge are weak.

However, you can connect it to a real home theater system via HDMI. You will need your own cable HDMI, since Toshiba does not includes one (bummer. Thrive on the screen using the ratio of 16:10, which is higher than standard HDTV at 16:9. Instead of presenting all the images in the mailbox, when you throw it on the big screen, a tablet of cultures is a bit on the side.

    Specification

Thrive in multiples of 1 GHz, Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processors and 1 GB of RAM, which is on par with other pills and provides enough juice for most games and video. But evidence of hardware and software we've seen so far on Android tablets are not yet fully developed enough to drive a clean home media convergence device in a way that's as satisfying as what Apple, still the team to beat, has made. Android desktop has come a long way, but scrolling in the browser and applications, animation, gaming, and video and just not as elegant to cell as they are on the IOS.

    Battery

Batteries lose capacity over time so that you can replace it at some point, but perhaps more importantly, road warriors can carry a fully charged spare and "just in case", have access to full power with fast switching. Battery replacement will cost $ 89.99 through Toshiba. Then again you may not need: Toshiba claims their "charging" feature allows you to recharge the battery up to 90% in 1.5 hours. First, the battery is user replaceable. You can pry the plastic back with just your fingernails, and change the battery, which looks like a flat, 5-inch square. Toshiba sells spare batteries for U.S. $ 80 each. Thrive is effective, lasting about eight hours per charge in my tests, so you really only need to change the batteries after several years of use, or if you are away from the wall for the entire weekend.

    Weight

1.66 pounds, it is much a bit heftier than Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tab & G-Slate. Being a think tablet in the class sounds like a stupid way to differentiate. But the extra volume allows for some attractive features not found in other tablets.

    Conclusion

If you have a problem with the tablet, it’s less than stellar performance when scrolling in applications and games. This is not just a matter of a tablet from Toshiba - I still use the pill for Android with graphics and scrolling, which are as smooth as we would like. I played a few rounds of Plants vs. Zombies, flash games, and it was playing, but not nearly as smooth as he is on the desktop. In addition, the game Angry Birds was nervous, and panning and zooming do not go as smoothly as they should be in the browser, in Twitter, in Google Maps, as well as in other applications.

In terms of software configuration Toshiba is a bunch of applications, including file manager, Media Manager, Quick Office, Need For Speed, and PrinterShare LogMeIn. Whether or not LogMeIn will be $ 30 Full version, only the court, or something between them are still unforeseen.
