    Spice S-1200 Camera Mobile Phone

    Introduction:

The Spice S-1200 is the foremost mobile phone in India with an optical zoom device. Equipped with a 12 megapixel CCD sensor, xenon flash, numerous face recognition and VGA video recording, the S-1200 assures to be simple a camera phone. So, now it’s time to check how useful this camera mobile is and further prominently, how good it is as just a phone.

    Design:

If we look it from the front side, the S-1200 appears just like other mobile phone. This phone is equipped with 2.4" TFT display with the earphone above it. Beneath it is a slightly cramped keypad with 23 keys crowded in space as big as a matchbox. The buttons are pretty tiny and there is a light possibility you might finish up pressing something completely dissimilar than the one you planned, especially if you have huge thumbs.

Though, we turn it around, we’ll realize that its not just a ordinary mobile phone. That vast camera lens means big business and the S-1200 is the very first device in Indian Market that is equipped with optical zoom. The lens chains 3x optical zoom with a crucial length of 35mm to 105mm. Because the mobile has optical zoom we would have favored a broad angle lens.

By the side of the zoom, the Spice S-1200 is even one of the few mobiles with 12 megapixel sensor, not that it s a huge transaction. We have strained that the number of megapixels doesn’t matters; it's the excellence and dimension of sensor together with the image processing algorithm that concludes the image superiority. The device makes use of CCD sensor, thatwas known for its higher image quality earlier over CMOS sensors. Though, at the moment all mobile phone cameras and high-end dSLR cameras employ CMOS because of their minor power utilization over CCD sensors and image superiority that is now on balance with that of CCD.

The S-1200 is also equipped with auto-focus. It also allows you to adjust the focus yourself from settings. Spice says that the S-1200 has picture stabilization but they fall short to elucidate whether it is optical or digital. A xenon flash is luckily offerd and does the responsibility of providing enlightenment at hours of darkness.

Now if we see on the sides of the device, we found that the volume keys are situated on the right, and it is also used as the zoom keys when you are in camera mode, together with the camera mode button, which make active the camera as well as soon as pushed and held in brief. In addition, observation is the camera shutter switch that is quite large and user-friendly.

The Spice S-1200 is a large and massive phone. That is fairly comprehensible in view of the camera hardware on board, however I feel that Spice could have ended up with it as a lighter phone. It's also significantly thicker than a large amount of phones we see nowadays, but that is totally comprehensible. As much as the design is worried, the device seems very uninteresting and even though it doesn't precisely look inexpensive, it not has complexity in the design.

Re: Spice S-1200 Camera Mobile Phone

    Interface:

The interface of Spice S-1200 appears to have been raises directly from the Sony Ericsson mobiles. Not that it is an completely bad thing, as the Sony Ericsson handsets do have a superior interface. We have a preference to the cheap-looking interface on earlier Spice handsets, however we hope they had arise through something new that seem to be good and was easy to use. The included applications are satisfactory with nothing mainly great. The web browser was unsatisfactory and at present and age we anticipate enhanced built-in browsers from mobiles. Luckily the device is equipped with Opera Mini and a few other helpful Java applications and video games. As per me the multimedia experience was just am normal, most probably the music playback, that undergoes because of the lack of an appropriate 3.5mm headphones jack and the packed headset was dreadful.

Definitely, only the 12 megapixel camera is the main deal of this mobile and in a few ways the device certainly doesn't let down. The camera application is once more like to the one in Sony Ericsson mobiles along with the line of icons located at the base. On top of that Spice has even presented suitable shortcut buttons on the alphanumeric keypad to alter usually used applications like focus mode, flash settings, zoom, and so on. The zoom bit was needless as the device already have devoted zoom inputs on the side, so it was not necessary to repeat them on the D-pad. The chunky dimensions of the phone come in helpful while taking pictures though. The mobile phone undergoes fine and there is lots of exterior to hold the phone.

    Camera:

Now the main part we should observe is image superiority. I was frightened by the excellence of the pictures that was captured by this device. Especially in well-lit circumstances. The detail point was great and the colors too were fairly unusual. The focusing structure could have been enhanced and it tended to frequently just focus in the center but it would let us obtain quite close to the focus in macro form. The only difficulty with the image superiority was the noise level. There was a lot of noise in the imagery and it would only get poorer in dye images. That’s means; it was most excellent to turn on the flash in low light.

As per the zoom, the 3x zoom is pretty helpful. Though it is not very quick and takes somewhat longer than you'd assume to get to full zoom that the lens is competent of. Unluckily, zoom is not accessible while taking video clips. Talking about videos, the Spice S-1200 is capable of taking videos in VGA resolution at 30FPS.

This mobile also features face detection together with image stabilization. We did not observed extra dissimilarity in pictures captured in image stabilization mode; hence we can guess that Spice S-1200 camera is digital and not optical. The one bad thing of its camera is the time stamp feature. However, this feature is in many cameras but in Spice S-1200, we were unable to disable it!

    Battery life, Price, Verdict:

The device has the average battery. After using its camera for most of the time, web browsing and messaging, we were able to manage its battery for about one and half day. The Spice S-1200 cost about Rs. 16,990 INR, one can buy it for as low as Rs. 14,500 from some of the dealers. The trouble with this handset is that it deliberates too much on the camera feature, which is fine, but the mobile part appears to have been totally unnoticed. The phone part of the S-1200 appears to be from something that should be priced below Rs. 5,000.
