After months of rumors and patience, the touch pad of the Cupertino company, the iPad, arrived in the markets worldwide. On the other hand, the announcement of the iPhone 4.0 OS, the operating system for mobile devices from Apple for months to come is currently debate on the Internet for various reasons such as non-integration of Flash in the iPhone and iPad. The firm at the apple has itself been surprised at his success since its first stock was depleted following the upcoming launched last March 12.
A tablet to (almost) anything -
The iPad is the iPhone based on Apple OS: unlike many other projects tablet, it should not replace a computer. With its large screen and full touch interface, the tablet makes it easier its use in various fields. For example, in addition to browsing the Internet, it is possible to play games on this device, watch videos, read newspapers or even eBooks. On the other hand, the iPad can be used for simple desktop usage through the purchase of Apple's iWork suite, three programs that constitute it have been recently updated :
- Keynote '09 allows users to easily create animated presentations. The recent update has focused on adding effects and animations on file sharing. The user can broadcast its presentation in the most used extensions, such as PDF, for example.
- Pages '09 is a software for word processing. The improvements have made a lot of new tools for page layout.
- Numbers '09 can capture and analyze data. A new feature of this program is the ability to perform an analysis in graphical form.
Its dimensions -
Although Apple was criticized for its previous products in terms of environmental, wanted to redeem themselves by using only environmentally friendly products (recycled glass, no mercury, etc..) For the iPad, the dimensions of it could, for some, problematic. Indeed, with 24.28 cm in height and 18.97 cm in width it is impossible to carry in a pocket and even less under his arm, at the risk of it stolen.
Application compatibility -
Following the release of this device-sized, some applications are not yet adapted to a resolution of 9.7 inches 3.5 inches cons for the iPhone. To counter this problem, Apple offers three solutions to developers :
- The first, invisible at first glance, is to develop a version iPad and iPhone in one application. So to install the device will execute the appropriate version to the device.
- The second solution is to create a different version of the application for each device. But for now, most applications are dedicated to the iPad twice more expensive than the same applications for the iPhone.
- Finally, it is possible to run an application on the iPhone iPad retaining its original resolution or by enlarging through dual pixel mode. Logically, this mode, although it allows applications to be displayed in full screen, deteriorating quality of graphics.
A closed platform -
The iPad has attracted criticism because, like the iPhone, it is a closed platform. It is impossible to install applications on it without going through Apple's AppStore, and you must pay for the right to publish applications. In addition, Apple reserves the right to accept and reject applications built by developers, or even delete them when they were accessible, what happened recently with wireless sensors.
It is always possible, as with the iPhone, jailbreak the iPad, and thus be able to install applications not approved by the AppStore, but it is forbidden by Apple and involves a breach of warranty. The jailbreak technique, very similar to that used for the iPhone was unveiled just 24 hours after the official release of the iPad.
