    iPad and iPhone OS 4.0

After months of rumors and patience, the touch pad of the Cupertino company, the iPad, arrived in the markets worldwide. On the other hand, the announcement of the iPhone 4.0 OS, the operating system for mobile devices from Apple for months to come is currently debate on the Internet for various reasons such as non-integration of Flash in the iPhone and iPad. The firm at the apple has itself been surprised at his success since its first stock was depleted following the upcoming launched last March 12.

A tablet to (almost) anything -

The iPad is the iPhone based on Apple OS: unlike many other projects tablet, it should not replace a computer. With its large screen and full touch interface, the tablet makes it easier its use in various fields. For example, in addition to browsing the Internet, it is possible to play games on this device, watch videos, read newspapers or even eBooks. On the other hand, the iPad can be used for simple desktop usage through the purchase of Apple's iWork suite, three programs that constitute it have been recently updated :
    • Keynote '09 allows users to easily create animated presentations. The recent update has focused on adding effects and animations on file sharing. The user can broadcast its presentation in the most used extensions, such as PDF, for example.
    • Pages '09 is a software for word processing. The improvements have made a lot of new tools for page layout.
    • Numbers '09 can capture and analyze data. A new feature of this program is the ability to perform an analysis in graphical form.

    Its dimensions -

Although Apple was criticized for its previous products in terms of environmental, wanted to redeem themselves by using only environmentally friendly products (recycled glass, no mercury, etc..) For the iPad, the dimensions of it could, for some, problematic. Indeed, with 24.28 cm in height and 18.97 cm in width it is impossible to carry in a pocket and even less under his arm, at the risk of it stolen.

    Application compatibility -

Following the release of this device-sized, some applications are not yet adapted to a resolution of 9.7 inches 3.5 inches cons for the iPhone. To counter this problem, Apple offers three solutions to developers :
    • The first, invisible at first glance, is to develop a version iPad and iPhone in one application. So to install the device will execute the appropriate version to the device.
    • The second solution is to create a different version of the application for each device. But for now, most applications are dedicated to the iPad twice more expensive than the same applications for the iPhone.
    • Finally, it is possible to run an application on the iPhone iPad retaining its original resolution or by enlarging through dual pixel mode. Logically, this mode, although it allows applications to be displayed in full screen, deteriorating quality of graphics.

    A closed platform -

The iPad has attracted criticism because, like the iPhone, it is a closed platform. It is impossible to install applications on it without going through Apple's AppStore, and you must pay for the right to publish applications. In addition, Apple reserves the right to accept and reject applications built by developers, or even delete them when they were accessible, what happened recently with wireless sensors.

It is always possible, as with the iPhone, jailbreak the iPad, and thus be able to install applications not approved by the AppStore, but it is forbidden by Apple and involves a breach of warranty. The jailbreak technique, very similar to that used for the iPhone was unveiled just 24 hours after the official release of the iPad.

Re: iPad and iPhone OS 4.0

Apple also announced recently at the last keynote that took place on April 8, the arrival of the iPhone OS 4.0, OS of the iPhone and iPad, which incorporates some features eagerly awaited.

    A limited multitasking -

Although the iPhone OS is based on Mac OS and supports multitasking so internally, this possibility has not, in early versions of the iPhone 3.0, was translated at a user visible: we do was not possible to run multiple applications simultaneously, or to run an application in the background. Apple says that multitasking can cause problems at the level of overall performance of the phone and use the battery.

To avoid impacting the performance, Apple uses a unique approach which is to pause the applications that are not in use rather than leaving them running in the background. Thus, a return to an application can find the exact situation in which it was left. However, some applications such as audio players must move in the background while he uses another. In order to enable this, Apple will provide some services that will permanently turn: the music in the background, voice over IP geolocation, notifications received from an external server or locally (such as alerts for a calendar) and the possibility complete a task in progress when the user closes the application.

    Interface Enhancements -

This version also brings improvements to the interface of the iPhone and embedded applications. It is now possible to group applications into folders, to store up to 9 applications simply by dragging them over each other.

The mail client can now consolidate their e-mail messages to several addresses in a single inbox, or to check each address separately. It is also possible to organize messages by subject, to follow a conversation more easily: why, an icon shows the number of emails referring to the conversation. On the other hand, the iPhone OS 4.0 can attach files to e-mails and open attachments in an external application.

A new application is emerging: iBooks, which can read eBooks purchased from the Apple online store. Books can contain animations, and it is possible to search the text, change the font size, highlight passages or see the definition of a word by selecting it. Finally, it is possible to read the books purchased iPad iPhone and vice versa, thus enabling to keep the highlighted passages and bookmarks.

    GameCenter and IAD -

The GameCenter is an application to invite friends to play games, or find players to play network games. It thus allows compliant applications to create a table of scores available to all and to compare its progress in a game with other players. This feature will be available until later in the year, and should, with over 20,000 games on the iPhone, meet with some success.

Apple also announced iad, a special infrastructure for advertising on the iPhone. It should allow developers to create applications for free and still be paid. According to the firm, advertising can not be played on the same space on one computer: the user spends most of his time in applications and not on standard search engines. Ads should therefore take place within the application: click on an advertisement will not leave the application, but will launch within it.

This version also incorporates many other news: we can note features to facilitate use of the iPhone in the business, a spell checker or support for Bluetooth keyboards. It is already available for developers, and should be sold this summer for iPhone users. The iPad version should not leave before the autumn.

Flash on the iPhone and iPad -

Apple's decision not to provide support for Flash on the iPad like the iPhone has been much criticized. The controversy over the Flash has also recently shown by the change in the criteria of the AppStore Apple: Adobe Flash CS5 added the possibility to write applications for the iPhone directly in ActionScript. But just days before the release of this new version, Apple has banned the use applications which are not written directly in C, Objective-C, C + + or Javascript.

Re: iPad and iPhone OS 4.0

The future operating system iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad be available during the summer of 2010, but developers can already get a pre-release. The following are some additional features of it :

    • Records - hey will better organize the applications on the screen. Previously, the limit of applications on a device was set at 180. Now it's more than 2,000.
    • The unified mailbox - An improved inbox will consolidate all the email accounts of a user.
    • IBooks - The book store Apple is entering the iPhone OS 4! Owners of iPhone and iPod Touch can now buy digital books, as well as users of iPad.
    • Business - Apple has introduced several new features for professionals: data protection, fleet management mobile application deployment, support VPN, etc..

    CONCLUSIONS -

Officially, more like iDevice iPhone 3G 2G iPod touch and can not bear to multitaking applications due to the limitation of the slower processor speed of the CPU and less RAM. Only the iPhone HD (4G), comes with iPhone OS 4.0 And the iPhone 3G supports multi-tasking.

However, this does not mean that the iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G can not support multi-tasking post upgrade to iPhone OS 4.0. Instead, the capacity was entirely limited by Apple based on the software, and can be unlocked by a simple hack simple, as found by the iPhone Dev Team.

Re: iPad and iPhone OS 4.0

iPhone does not deserve this outburst of criticism or passions anyway! Admit that it is a great device that really makes everyday life. And we see in looking at the numbers of Internet access via mobile phones: two thirds of Internet access via mobile phones is the fact iPhones. But iPhone is not dominant in that market, which has less than 40%, which is normal since he arrived only in 2007. The reason is that access to the Internet via iPhone is easier than using a Blackberry for example. Since I switched to Apple, everything is synchronized (messages, notes, calendar, contacts, bookmarks): it was enough that I tap a button on each device and "that's all". I think that the OS 4.0 for an iPad and iPhone will be great.
