    Lenovo Thinkpad T400s Notebook

It is not long since Lenovo launched the newest member of the ThinkPad family, T400s. The ultra-thin computer is not more than 21 mm thick, and should be optimized for office. ThinkPad T400s is a thin and light model that’s designed to give users a blend of portability, performance, and energy-efficiency. This notebook is the company’s thinnest and lightest T Series model, weighing 3.91 pounds and measuring just 0.82 inches thick.

A 14.1" wide TFT display, illuminated with LEDs provides a resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels. This resolution is somewhat higher than most 14-inch, but in our opinion fits this resolution perfect for this screen size. It is otherwise the same resolution as the X300 uses.

You can even choose whether you want a traditional Hard Disk of 250 GB, or an SSD device for the whole 128 GB in your T400s. The latter may mean that some are small, but the great advantage of the low response time, one can not look away from. In our test machine is SSD device, along with a P9400 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo processor

When X300 was launched over a year ago flores the rumor that this would come with built GPS, but it was not yet in place. T400s have had with this feature, together with a 3g card from Ericsson.

T400s seems interesting, let us find what it is good for!

    Re: Lenovo Thinkpad T400s Notebook

It is quite amazing how much Lenovo has plunged into the small plants in such a small and lightweight machine. Escape and Delete button is made considerably larger, a big advantage in terms of how often you actually use these buttons. The distance between each button prevents fall down and block keys, while the drip holes on the bottom lets water and coffee slip right through your computer if you were to spill a little.

A fingerprint reader is also in place, as well as volume control for both the sound that goes in and out. Both a pointing stick and pointing plate has been space. T400s are made of a carbon-reinforced material, and we will review this as a very comfortable and enjoyable. The material feels soft, while it is both hard and solid.

The keyboard is very comfortable to type on, even though it emits no sound. For those who are accustomed to at the Fn button located within the Ctrl button allows the city to accustom processes that have turned such a habit that speed inside the buttons are, but Lenovo does programming of buttons via the BIOS so you can swap Fn and Ctrl buttons if you want it.

The buttons for the pointing stick is like a great walk as those of the surface point, any abnormalities, but the chance for error is still low. All the mouse buttons are comfortable for clicking.

    Connectivity

We appreciate the fact that Lenovo understand user behavior. Right side of the machine is cleared for contacts that might come in conflict with an external mouse, or the optical device. The latter plays and burning most of the variations of both CD and DVD, and if you want you can buy the machine with Bluray player.

It is on the back most of the contacts are placed. Here is connected to the power supply, next to a monitor output. Network is in place, there are also external Sata and a USB connector with continuous power sources. Display Port is also in place, the PC industry's response to the HDMI.

On machines left side we find the remaining contacts, but a microphone output seems to gleam in his absence. This connection is actually in the same connector as the audio output, a 3 pin minijack. The machine has an integrated microphone for video calls, which also removes the taste sounds. A small memory card reader is in place, but it does not, among other things, the popular CF-cards.

We will say that the machine has a good contact range, but as always will have much more. We might want a mic input, firewire and Express Card.

The machine is designed for business use, and that it will come with good support for video conferencing, we see as an advantage. The camera offers two megapixels, backed up by two microphones on each side. In the same holes that the camera is placed, is also a small light. This light will illuminate the keyboard for those who were sitting in the dark.

We appreciate that your computer supports the docking station, and of the proper type that does not make use of USB connectivity. At the launch of the T400s were also released three of these stations, where all will be as flexible as the machine itself.

    Screen

14.1 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 900 is absolutely excellent, the machine is still mobile at the same time as it can introduce a large image.

The backlight is very good, LED is really the way to go for a bright image. The screen surface colors are real and relaxing. The surface also creates minimal reverberation, while it makes the screen very resistant against direct sunlight.

    Performance

Lenevo T400s are not intended as a slot, so that it eventually ends up with a little over 960 points in 3DMark 06 is not surprising. The switch, however X300 quite well, which had an Intel X3100 card on the inside. This time, Lenovo selected a 4500M card from the same manufacturer.

Something that sole clearly stands out with this machine, is hard drive performance. With well over 26,000 points in the PCMark and 20,000 blank in Vantage, it is clear that the machine is low to get here. What we really want to remark very strongly is that the T400s have an SSD, which separates the good from the competition and thereby automatically gives you more performance. We see that SSD device in T400s are much faster than the Lenovo had placed in the X300.

The machine also has a good memory performance, but here you must see the Lenovo off Dell's E6400. We want to emphasize this, because the machine has only 2 GB of memory.

T400s have a very acceptable battery life. 212 minutes with a display set to maximum brightness, you have ample time before the machine is no longer portable. If you put down the brightness to the lowest level you will get 50 minutes extra battery life.

    Re: Lenovo Thinkpad T400s Notebook

    Conclusion

As a business machine is Lenovo Thinkpad T400s really a good machine. The machine has good battery life, a roaring screen and many small functions that together make a good impression.

It's clear Lenovo has had user behavior in mind when the machine was designed, which they themselves also points out. The contacts are located on the left and back, which does not create any practical conflicts. A good keyboard and two options for control of the mouse pointer, we appreciate.

T400s have an unsurpassed storage performance, a SSD device will have all the credit for. Storage capacity is at 128 GB, but if you want to sacrifice performance, you can get a standard hard drive of 250 GB. As an office machine is also very good test, but the memory should it really have done something with. For some reason, our test model delivered with low 2 GB of internal memory. With a price of around Rs. 128000, it is really not too much required to have 4 GB as standard, according to the price guide does it cost around Rs. 19500 for 2 GB of memory that can fit in this computer.

The machine has a price from around Rs. 128000 including tax. There is a high price when we see many other portable enterprise-class lies between Rs. 64000 and Rs. 96000. There you pay extra for is that we have a large screen and good if you take weight into account. Lenovo has also X301 similar T400s in many ways. X301 is required for their docking support, and the screen is an inch smaller. SSD device will also meet the high price, but the world for a performance you get with SSD on a laptop.

T400s are in many ways a great business machine. Low weight, good screen with good resolution, very good build quality and a great functional design makes her. If you also get a fast SSD, 3G, and everything else of wireless communications as WLAN and Bluetooth, one is well secured. It is simply very little that we miss on this computer.

    Pros
    • Internal GPS
    • Good keyboard
    • Many fine small functions
    • Good screen
    • Solid construction
    • Good corporate performance

    Cons
    • Should have been more memory
