    Canon PowerShot G1 X

The new Canon PowerShot G1 X is a camera where the image quality has absolute priority. The large CMOS is the reason for popularity of this camera and the highest image quality in its class to offer. With the Canon G1 X is a new category created above the popular G-series.

The Canon PowerShot G1 X is perhaps an alternate (partly) choice to the system cameras that is having large image sensors and compact size to compete with the DSLR and advanced compact cameras from Canon. Partly because according to Canon Japan still really working on a Canon camera system. The Canon PowerShot G1 X is relatively compact but somewhat larger than the PowerShot G series. The Canon G1 X has a full metal body and combines EOS sensor with DIGIC 5 processor, a new Canon zoom lens and extensive manual controls.

The Canon G1 X has a large format 14.3 megapixel CMOS sensor with a 4:3 ratio. The dimensions of the sensor amounts x14 18.7 mm and is as high as the APS-C sensor in Canon EOS DSLR models. According to Canon, the sensor is performed using the same pixel dimensions and construction as the EOS 600D and should therefore deliver DSLR image quality but with the convenience of a compact camera. The on-chip noise reduction ensures the high image quality even at high ISO speeds. A 4-channel readout enables high recording speed in all conditions and ensures fast, responsive performance.

Canon PowerShot G1X offers high ISO and fast DIGIC 5 processor

The combination of a large CMOS sensor and DIGIC 5 processor delivers optimum performance with the camera. The Canon PowerShot G1X has the HS-system that enables the camera with maximum resolution on an ISO range of 100 to 12,800 to photograph. There is ideal characteristics for the photographer to do with available light to work.

Canon PowerShot G1 X lens technology

The lens in the Canon PowerShot G1 X uses UA elements with a high refractive index. The lens has a 4x optical zoom range of 28-112 mm and withdraws completely into the camera body. A diaphragm 6 sipes in combination with the large sensor is for the possibility of a good background blur. To guarantee that photos and HD movies are sharp, the lens is having 4-stop optical Image Stabilizer (IS). Because of this, in condition of the low light, photographers can have shutter boost to four stops slower which is than without IS.

    Optical Image Stabilizer

This is having the Optical Image Stabilizer supported by the IS. With the help of this technology, camera analyzes the focal length and focuses on the distance and recognizes the type of camera moment and after that put it on the correct settings in order to select Image Stabilizer. This is having the Hybrid technology within macro photography to blur because of the camera shake. Lens of the camera is also having 3-stop Neutral Density (ND) filter. With the help of this it gives good apertures in bright light and gives good depth in the images.

    Canon PowerShot G1 X control

The new Canon PowerShot G1X offers full manual control in addition to fully automatic programs. The Canon PowerShot G1 X supports 14-bit RAW images with smooth gradations and natural colors which are accurate to adjust with the included Digital Photo Professional (DPP) software. The camera supports fast action shots with a speed of 4.5 fps at full resolution and maximum range of 6 shots. There is also a speed of 1.9 fps photographed (JPEG) until the memory card is full.

Full HD shooting with Canon PowerShot G1 camera X

The camera allows Full HD video quality recording at 24fps. The dedicated video button on the Canon PowerShot G1 camera X has direct access for this. Thanks to the large sensor, a lesser depth can be achieved while the 4x optical zoom will remain open during recording. The sound is recorded in stereo. The shots are looking back at the large format 3-inch Vari-Angle PureColor II VA LCD screen where the user has the ability to tilt the screen so from almost any angle or position it work. The monitor has the optical viewfinder that offers photographers the freedom and quality to quietly photographing or filming. The camera has a built-in flash and offers the possibility to place an external flash via the hot shoe.

PowerShot G1 X will not be a replacement for the G12, the G1 X will kick of an entirely new branch of PowerShots, but the inspiration is obvious at first glance. The G1 X looks and feels like an update to the G12, in both performance and style. But the biggest difference here is the new 1.5-inch sensor, an absolute giant for this class of camera.

Those who already love the G12 will find almost all of their favorite features and design elements retained, along with a decent amount of additions and improvements. Whether or not those improvements justify the extra $300 still remains to be seen.
