Re: Sony BDP-S360 Blu-ray Disc Player

Above all, appreciate the aesthetics of the device. With its flip front panel smoked pure its central blue LED and its thickness is reduced, the BDP-S360 is a success. The ignition of the device only takes a few seconds. Six or seven at most. However, for loading the disc, it's almost always too long. Between 35 and 40 seconds, according to the Blu-ray. But the speed of ignition and extinction is really appreciable. There are also the same velocity in the management of various functions and operations of the player. The controls are responsive, support is immediate and the unit is very docile.

    A simple connection

At the rear of the machine, near the fan, is the USB port required for the repatriation of supplements BD-Live. It comes with an Ethernet port, the HDMI 1.3 (xvColor), two audio outputs (optical and coaxial), a YUV output, two analog video outputs (Composite and S-Video) and a analog audio output. It's that simple. The fan is rather quiet, but the device will read a funny purr-purr, as if something were stuck in the mechanism. It's amazing and embarrassing at the time. I hope this is eliminated on the final drive.

    Installation and easy use

No change in the remote, which retains its Home button to return at any time the user interface. The only problem is that pressing this button during the movie, with a Blu-ray, it is not always possible to return to the point where we had stopped, as is the case with a DVD. The Xross Media Bar interface is also still up in the presence of a method of easy installation that will enable novices to easily set the player (resolution video output, choice of audio mode, etc.). Some calibration options audio / video are also available. Thus, by pressing "Options" in the course of the film, you can choose between three video modes playing mostly on the black level (Standard, Distinct Item and Cinema) and active three Noise. His side is less interesting with an option to sync between picture and sound and a filter for analog sources.

    An honorable HD upscaling

In terms of pure performance, the BDP-S360 saw nothing wrong with its price. The HD 1080p upscaling DVD-Video is quite conclusive. The image is nicely boost without excessive noise or tingling. Blu-ray are treated with deference and combine a good level of contrast to a definition punctilious. This is obviously not the great goldsmith video, but for a turntable input range is quite convincing.

A standard audio player, but an honest player HD

Especially as at the sound, the BDP-S360 also works very well. Pure audio, dynamics and precision are correct, even if it is impossible to directly access CD tracks with the numeric keypad on the remote. A visibly recurrent gap on Blu-ray. In multichannel HD streams that are decoded internally or sent to a native HD amplifier, the result is generous, ample and chased it right. However, on several counts, we received a small difference in relief between native HD streams decoded by the amp, which proved better than those treated internally by the player. Finally, know that the BDP-S360 is compatible with BonusView and BD-Live. We only regret that the USB port is not open to something other than repatriation bonuses online.
