Introduction
Yamaha’s latest entry-level receiver the RX-V665 with 7.2 channel digital home theater receiver is loaded with features and excellent performance. In addition to delivering great sound, it minimizes the cable clutter going to your HDTV.It supports HD audio and video featuring HD audio encoding and 1080p HDMI, with four inputs and one output with video upscaling as well as other features such as Digital ToP-ART, YPAO, Cinema DSP 3D and custom installation features. However the one thing that does leave us a bit concerned is weight.
The fact that this receiver is rated to produce 90 watts per channel into seven channels while weighing in at just 18.7 pounds leads us to wonder about the robustness of its power supply. It has a great history with their A/V receiver product line, with many excellent products in the mid- to entry-level range. The manufacturer included four HDMI inputs, video scaling, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding and support for a second zone, for instance, while axing S-video input and outputs.
The RX-V665 has the typical boxy look of an AV receiver, but is a little shorter than most with a 364mm depth. While working as a control hub, Yamaha RX-V665 has 4 HDMI-HDCP inputs, 2 sets of HD capable component inputs, and 4 video inputs with S-Video and composite jacks. It is equipped with 1080p compatible HDMI inputs and all the necessary surround sound decoders including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio and also up scaling analogue video to 1080p.You can enjoy sound in a separate room because the RX-V665 provides Zone 2 audio output.
Furthermore, Zone 2 power amplifier assignability and speaker terminals mean that Zone 2 can be fully independent with its own 2-channel power, while you still enjoy 5-channel sound in the main room. Its LCD display is a bluish white, instead of the orange of previous years', which we preferred as we found a little easier to read from far away.here are dedicated inputs for those accessories, too. You can listen to XM radio over 150 digital channels.Pure Direct is a special receiver mode that causes the signal to bypass all but the most basic audio circuitry, and even turns off the display to prevent any chance of noise interference. It provides the purest possible high-fidelity sound from all sources including HDMI inputs.
