Samsung B2100 Solid Mobile Phone

In terms of all-terrain phones, Samsung is not the first attempt. After Solid SGH-M110 and the Solid B2700, the manufacturer comes back with a new model a bit more colorful than its predecessor, the B2100 Solid.

His strong point includes IP57 certificate, resistant to impact and dust but also to a 30 min immersion in 1 m of water. A perfect phone for those who work outdoors but perhaps also for the awkward to drown their regular unit. It is also equipped with a powerful flashlight. Its multimedia features: a photo sensor of 1.3 megapixel, an MP3 player and FM radio. Its low internal memory of 10 MB is offset by a MicroSD card reader and SDHC up to 8GB. Compatible with the Edge, the Solid B2100 also enjoys a good autonomy: up to 9 hours talk and 25 days standby. The phone operating temperatures are between -20°C and +60°C. It should be available during the month of April.

At the time of iPhone and other smartphones, the mobile base can seem a bit outdated. Yet some models such as the Samsung Solid B2100 deserve a little. According to IP57 certification, the device is water resistant (one meter for thirty minutes), snow, sand and falls. But beyond this specificity that will delight some of the trades and for the general public, athletes and awkward, this phone would be attractive with multimedia features and a long battery life. As many criteria supposed seduce the greatest number, however, that performance and usability are there.

Equipped with a urethane shell (material and slip resistant), the Samsung Solid 2100 gives an impression of strength and we have not resisted the urge to do choir and immerse to verify. No breaks, whew! Despite his all-terrain design, the mobile offers a look more original than its predecessor, the B2700 Solid, if not quite elegant with its metallic red borders.

Opening the hood is done using a coin (the fastener is screwed that all is well sealed). Indeed, the MicroSD memory card, housed under the battery is easily accessible, but it remains protected from any splashing or drowning.

Everything for the outdoors

The Solid B2100 offers comprehensive multimedia features but uneven. The audio function is satisfactory and provides a good autonomy. ID3 tags are supported and the album just brighten up the rather basic interface. The device includes a speaker that lacks power but delivers a sound that is quite correct to music or FM radio (not RDS). Note that the latter has a recording function. The generated files are stored in internal memory, unfortunately limited. It is, however, easy to retrieve the file (MP3 at 128 kb/s) through the USB cable, the internal memory is something rare, accessible via the mass storage option.

However, the camera (1.3 megapixels) is rather poor in low light (a storm is required) and video capture (176 x 144 pixels) provides the minimum union.

Excellent autonomy

Last but one of the most important, the broad autonomy of mobile mode is impressive. Rediscover it (and enjoy) the comfort of not having to recharge your device every night. Of course, the screen is small and the unit is not touch or 3G. This explains that. Users favoring the telephony functions hyper advanced new smartphones go away happy. With reasonable use (some commercial and some multi-media), it will be quiet for a few days (4.5 or 6). A true happiness.

Virtually unbreakable, ultra independent and able to play audio players and FM radio, the Samsung Solid B2100 is the perfect phone for that emphasizes the voice and does not yield to the sirens of smartphones. Only the screen and the photo disappoints a little video.
