    Cooler Master Gladiator 600 case

    Introduction:

A mid-range box from Cooler Master, it was a moment that we had not tested one. After a period focusing on the range gamer CM Storm, Cooler Master seems returned to what made its success through the range.

Our Gladiator 600 thus includes the middle class turn it around on one side with the Elites, 6 models referenced 330 to 335 and 360, the entry level and another beside the CM690, Centurion 590 and other Sileo 500. The last 3 are more mid-range. On a more general point of view, the range say the case is impressive. The premium includes the three Cosmos, S, 1000 and 1010 but also the ATCS 840 and the HAF 932. In addition to the ranges described above this leads to 36 models of boxes.

Other products, including power supplies that have become a speciality of Cooler master over the years, 4 major product lines: UCP, Silent Pro, Power and Real Power eXtrem. In total 16 products, some remarkable. Cooling is on the same scale, prestigious models such as the Hyper Z600, but the V8 Hyper 212, among others.

    • Dimensions, height: 440, width: 202, depth: 485 mm.
    • Weight: 8.5 kg empty 12.25 kg mounted equipment.

    Characteristics of fans delivered:
    • 1 x A14025-10CB-3BN-F1, high extraction, 140 x 25 mm. Speed of 1200 rpm for 17 dB (A).
    • 1 x A12025-12CB-3BN-F1, low aspiration, 120 x 25 mm. Speed of 1200 rpm for 19 dB (A).

Our Gladiator 600 provides a very ventilated facade, a lot of it is occupied by a very fine mesh, only one banner placed halfway up the line breaks. It takes a brilliant finish and incorporates the control panel, it is quite comprehensive. 2 x USB 2.0, 1x E-SATA and audio ports. It also houses the power button, reset and the illumination of the front fan. Underneath the facade low aspiration. Being honest, the cover is nice, it has the look, it matches the trend of the times.

The left panel features 2 locations in 120 or 140 mm for the size of fans, positioned one above the other they take over the CPU and graphics card. A premise for other formats ventilation? Yes, without doubt, the 140 mm implementation may be longer, probably due to compactness, the mini is in vogue. The rear panel reveals the location of housing, power supply is placed at the bottom of the box, it is a position we find more and more often than not in the top range. Over the 7 sites with card, obviously a mounting fast. The exhaust fan is its natural place at the top of the rear panel near the back panel I / O. Fans in three dimensions can be fitted: 80, 92 and 120 mm. The top of the housing is occupied by a 120 or 140 mm, in our case, a 140 mm is mounted.

The right panel is completely obscured, no ventilation holes.

    The Interior:

A frame that reminds us of something, we are close to the CM 609, but the Centurion 5, among others, a mix. The bottom plate supports the motherboard, we note with pleasure the presence of openings, this one is at the processor, this allows a change of fan without complete disassembly of the card.

The second lies in the lower level of power cords and hard drives, allowing to pass the cords behind the panel. "And they emerge where" you ask? Well at the top to the cage of 5.25-inch bays, the opening is not a huge 25 x 30 mm. The 5.25-inch bays are equipped with rapid mounting system type Centurion 5, below the cage for hard disks. A 120 mm fan is mounted in front, it provides cooling of the discs.

    Integration

A very important stage of our test, because you have noticed, our Gladiator 600 is not very deep with 485 mm.

    Power:

The mount itself does not call for any special, 2-way mounting is possible by fixing symmetrical. A block measuring 270 mm find its place, the ventilation holes are provided under the block to allow for proper cooling. A filter is delivered in the form of plate to slide on pins 4, if the installation does not really worry cleaning is impossible without removing the block, not very happy. A passage of the cord is near, he leads back the support of the motherboard.

    Motherboard:

Compatible with ATX and Micro-ATX, assembly uses conventional spacers and screws. The passage of the cords at the top of the box is too small for our 20/24 pin connector. Fortunately a passage behind the cage for hard disks is present with eyelets to tie the cords to jointly support. Practice, the opening in the support of the motherboard up to the processor, it allows a change of ventirad without removing the card.

    Processor Fan:

150 mm maximum if a fan is mounted on the left panel and top, 175 mm in the case. It enjoys full 140 mm fan on top of him, of a possible 120 mm on the rear panel.

    Graphics card:

The 270 mm of our graphics card fit to the millimeter, it must pass the same way. In terms of its width, the same scenario as for fan processor, depending on whether a fan is mounted on the left panel. There are therefore 35 mm between the edge of the graphics card fan and the left panel and 60 mm if the fan is absent. The sink our card center aspire to the case to expel the supports Pci at the rear of the enclosure. So, given the position of air ducts drives the left panel, there is little chance that the card benefits fully. The setting tool without the graphics card is actually been against the cards for a bit heavy they tend to slip, but the locations of the bolts are very accessible, just to add one.

    Hard disks:

A montage of slides, the concept used by Cooler Master. They are positioned in the 2 recordings of original disc, the whole amount right angles to the housing. The connectors are right side panel, however it is impossible to restore the left panel, the connectors are too close and beyond the tower. On a cooling point of view, the fan cover is dedicated. But the amounts of the cage plays the role a little screen, the loss of load is very important, it should not be much of the flow output of a cage.

    5.25 Inches devices:

In a first step is to remove the cover, then slide the drive into the slot and push the tab corresponding to the front. Simple, but we must find the right position. There is only one tab left, therefore, for the right side of the openings are planned to confirm the setting, if necessary. With our drive, the location seemed very tight, no play on the sides, we could do without this additional setting.

    Cooling:

Five places for fans in a housing after all quite small, this is not very common. All this is usually the preserve of large boxes. A classic for our Gladiator 600, but strengthened. A 120 mm fan mounted in a location of 120/140 mm, the air is filtered, not through a filter directly to the fan but the whole facade. It is indeed doubled by filters positioned at the bottom but also up in the caches 5.25 P. Cleaning should not be very easy. This fan transparent illuminated in blue to support the cooling hard drives, as mentioned above. For against, we should not expect miracles for other elements of the PC, so the cage is a barrier to the flow.

Two sites are present on the left panel, they can accommodate fans 120 or 140 mm. If they are not mounted, the openings act as air inlet. Otherwise the top is intended rather to the processor, rather below the motherboard and graphics card. The extraction is entrusted to the original 140 mm fan mounted on top of the housing, the site can accommodate 120 or 140 mm. Another fan site for 80, 92 or 120 mm is present at the top of the rear panel, not to the level of 140 mm due to box width. The 2 fans are delivered to 1,200 rpm, so there is little opportunity to refine the rotation, but no major proportions.

The power is with an opening on the bottom, to allow an inflow of fresh air. A filter is delivered, all from a very good principle, it should be stated. For against, it should also say that once mounted the block, the filter is unavailable. For the filter in the front, it takes it completely dislocated as it integrates the filters caches 5.25 inches and especially in the lower part.

The internal layout of the case:

Is that it's not this great Gladiator 600, how to spell it? It incorporates the concept of popular storage media on the back of the motherboard, it's not very expensive to implement and it allows a good arrangement. A bottom opening for passage and storage of power cords for those of the motherboard the pins 4 and 8 can be emerged at the top through the opening. For the 20/22 pin, depending on the flexibility of your cord and strength in your little fingers to twist it to pass in the opening of 30 x 30 mm. For that the cord should measure 600 mm,the worst in the cabinet are provided for securing this cord. As against, it's ideal for cords scanners. On the back of the card, lower left, the connection of hard drives, above the 5.25-inch devices, it is not stored. The back of the motherboard has many eyes, perfect for attaching collars Rilsan delivered and therefore to position the cables. The opening to the right processor to intervene on its retention without any disassembly. In the end the opening can allow the passage of small cords, genre fans of the housing, if necessary. At the latter, moreover, the cords do not win, not very practical, it hangs everywhere. In short, not bad for a case not very great, as we regret frankly above the size of the opening at the top, 30 x 30 mm, 30 x 50 mm would have been perfect.

Re: Cooler Master Gladiator 600 case

    Conclusion:

In terms of cooling, the results are rather good. It must be admitted that Cooler Master has forced on the number and size of fans or at least locations. That is rare for a box this size and this category is rather confined boxes above range. His secret undoubtedly consists of the 140 mm on top in high-extraction, it can be effectively supplemented by a 120 mm on the rear panel. A word on the left panel of fans, our witness configuration it does not seem to have influence, our graphics card with an air intake at the rear, therefore insensitive to a stream positioned at the other end of the card. The processor, its processor reached its limits, there is still a fall of 8 °C in intensive which is quite interesting. The sound level is very measured with a level equivalent to 1 m in the original box and equipped with extra fan at the rear. This seems to be the first investment to make if you're looking for more cooling while remaining discreet.

The interior layout is particularly good with the passage of cords on the back of support from the motherboard and openness in the system for retention processor fan. The steel chassis is very classic and shows a good rigidity. Entered the air is filtered and unfortunately that of the power is inaccessible once the block mounted, damage. For inlets of the front, it houses the entire air filters, so it should be dislocated with caution for the cleaning.

A housing complex to understand, it was announced around Rs 4000/- in Indian Rupess. Difficult to make a name in such circumstances, there is no doubt that in some time it will be below Rs 3,500/- in price.
