    Nokia E75 Mobile Phone

Nokia, the leading mobile telephony has been one of the first smartphones to have in its range, including the famous Communicator, the first model, the 9000 was launched more than 10 years ago in 1996.It was the first mobile phone with full keyboard, the mobile open like a book and the screen was of course not touch.

This range has been a long year with the 9110 and 9210. Then followed another generation with the 9300 and 9500 and finally the E90 recently. All these models had the same format: a small external screen and it opened like a book to enter the large keyboard and a widescreen.

According to the Finnish manufacturer, this range of Communicator is gone and is replaced by the Nokia E75. The format will change to a format familiar to users of Windows Mobile: format with sliding full keyboard landscape. Format smartphone launched by HTC and the brand that continues to escape this kind of product, non tactile as the S740 or tactile as the current Touch Pro and upcoming Touch Pro2.

The Nokia E75 has a non-touch screen, supports 3G +, Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi and it works with the operating system home, namely Symbian s60 3rd edition Feature Pack 2. It has only 50 MB of internal memory, a memory microSD HC port (up to 32 GB) and a digital camera 3.2 Mega pixels. And it is one of the first smartphones to have a microUSB connector. And he also has an audio jack connector 3.5 mm .

A discovery of keyboard smartphone GPS

The Nokia E75 has a rounded design with a front and a black chrome contour. This smartphone is spartan but still elegant.

As soon as hands, you will appreciate the reasonable size of E75. With a weight of 139 g It is quite light for its category. By way of comparison, the HTC Touch Pro weighs 165 g A Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 158 g and a HTC S740 140 g .

At the back of the E75, there are the lens of the camera integrated 3.2 Mega pixels, with flash and small mirror for self:

There are four buttons, including two for zooming with the camera and adjust the volume of the terminal during a call, the button located between the two to "transfer" (cut the microphone) during a call.

Also the button to start the camera and also serves trigger. There are also protected by each trap rubber, microUSB connector used for synchronization and the microSD memory port.

Congestion and comparisons of Nokia E75

To get an idea of the size of the Nokia E75, we have compared to its main competitor: the HTC S740.

    The same seen from behind.
    1. The E75 is shorter but wider than the S740.

    2. Their respective dimensions.

      • Nokia E75: 11.2 x 5.0 x 1.4 cm
      • HTC S740: 11.6 x 4.3 x 1.6 cm

    3. The E75 screen is brighter, while the S740 seemed to pull the yellow.

    4. The keyboard opens on the same side: to the left.

The E75 is first impressed by its completeness: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G +, Azerty keyboard, camera with flash and autofocus, VGA video player, microSD HC card (up to 16GB now), headphone jack 3 , 5mm .

This device contains all the latest developments of the moment in a reasonable size: light sensor, accelerometer, this last parameter to interact with all existing applications.

The very intelligently implemented in a generally well designed, very fine. This format is interesting in the camera more compact range of the E-series Nokia.

The number of shortcuts to customize hardware and thus to facilitate the management of this phone. The screen remains rather small ( 2.4 inches ) With a reduced resolution which seems a little off the competition and the current evolution of the market for advanced mobile phones. The speaker is very powerful and takes very good saturation, impressive music and to a lesser extent in conversation (where quality is not the same).

The sliding keyboard E75 is right in line with previous versions of Nokia (E70, E90): The keys are flat and wide. The curious bar in the center we came to not embarrassing seizure. A felt very good despite a general upper row a little difficult to access to confirm at a more advanced test. The presence of the key arobase "@" direct access is also a plus, we would have preferred to have the same access point '.. " The lack of contextual buttons and a row of numbers, which will require the passage on the keypad, even when the keyboard is open, and therefore a more finger gymnastics binding. Curious fact, moreover, the figures in the numeric keypad are disabled as soon as we opened the sliding keyboard, only the contextual keys are available .

    Autonomy
Nokia announced a range of 12 days on standby with GSM and 5 hours of talk time (against 7 hours for the HTC Touch Pro). We have been testing extensively this E75 several days (for 1 day: Bluetooth headset permanently plugged in, 1 hour of music, call 1 hour, 4 hours of use minimum 1 hour of mobile Internet, email is every 30 minutes). The autonomy was hardly 2 days in these intensive conditions, which suggests a fairly self-correct (3-4 days for normal use).

Finally, an autonomy in the average mobile competitors, even if it is well below the E71, a leader in the category.

    The camera

The integrated digital camera can make pictures of a maximum resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels (3.2 mega pixels) and video to MP4 or 3GP format (for MMS) and resolution 640 x 480 (VGA) , 320 x 240 or 176 x 144 pixels. It has an autofocus, flash (with mode red-eye), a stabilizer and the geocoding of photos and video.

The camera starts holding for several seconds the shutter button on the edge of the E75. And it is fast enough to run 3 to 4 seconds. However, it is sometimes a bit slow to save the photo, it takes a few seconds. Next to the shutter button, the knobs on the volume used here to adjust the zoom level.

The menus are very intuitive but the display of the text is quite small and not always very readable. One appreciates the shortcut bar to access the main settings: Switching to video / photo, adjust the flash, or choice of scene mode (Auto, Portrait, Sports, Landscape, Night).A screen is displayed the number of photos that can be, depending on the remaining free memory space. Too bad that the lens on the back of the device did not protect the cache.

Note that you can also use the camera on the front panel to make shots, but its resolution is low: 0.3 Mega pixels. There are 3 settings for the resolution of pictures: 3 Mega pixel, 2 mega pixel or 0.3 Mega pixels. To assess the quality of the camera on the E75, we compared his photographs with a camera, here a Panasonic Lumix FZ7 equipped with a sensor 6 Mega pixels.

    Re: Nokia E75

    GPS navigation

In terms of GPS accessories, the Nokia E75 comes without a charger or car cigarette lighter. This is not a surprise because the E75 is not dedicated to GPS, the Nokia Navigator contrary, some of these models are sold in packs with these accessories for GPS car navigation. For the cigar lighter charger, however, the E75 with a Nokia-specific connectors, it will take a cigar lighter charger specific.

The integrated GPS receiver and its sensitivity:

No official details on the supplier of the GPS chip that E75, Nokia does not give its details. But there is a strong chance that this is the Texas Instruments foundry that provides the GPS chip, like the N95 in particular.Like most recent smartphones, the E75 is compatible A-GPS.However, no utility to manage oneself downloading A-GPS information, it is done automatically and transparently.

Note that despite the A-GPS compatible Nokia E75, during our tests, the first GPS position calculation has been very slow, between 5 and 10 minutes. While with the A-GPS, it usually takes 1 to 2 minutes. This is annoying if you must wait for the GPS .

On the River Ganga, a semi tunnel, open on one side, the two GPS receivers do very little with the sky a lot of concrete around, and the signals are very low:

Under these conditions of weak signal, captures the E75 as the X500 and have a little trouble to calculate the GPS position. Output of long tunnels, during our tests, the E75 has been rapid (1 to 2 seconds) to recalculate its GPS position, sometimes even faster than the X500.Finally, the E75 has a pretty good GPS sensitivity, except for the first claucl GPS position (TTFF), which can be quite long. Should check with another copy of the E75 to be sure. The E75 should not be too bothered by athermal windscreen breezes.

    GPS navigation

Like most Nokia smartphones, the E75 comes with the navigation software house, namely Nokia Maps, here in version 2.An unusual feature of this navigation software, maps are free, but the voice guidance for use in car is charged. The E75 comes with a microSD memory card 4 GB with pre-installed maps of France, Monaco, Andorra, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. So no need to transfer itself. And also provided the voice guidance option for a period of 12 months for the countries France, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg. Beyond that, it will carry out this option if you want to use the voice guidance.

However, if one is content to view the maps and routes, it's still free.

    Re: Nokia E75

    Conclusion

Many strengths to the Nokia E75 which is in reference mobile touch of the mark in terms of completeness of these specifications. Finally, it lacks very little current technological advances, all in an attractive format, size and battery fully acceptable. Azerty keyboard and is very successful.

Beyond technology, note the care taken by Nokia, as usual, to implement these advances in the software: from a few details, the whole is very coherent and easy to use.

Few defects in the end for this smartphone: those seeking a phone still in the most complete line of Nokia devices of the previous generation (E51, N70 or 6600 .) will not hesitate on this excellent long terminal sacrifice or the keyboard for greater autonomy until E55.

E90 owners will, in turn, may be repelled by the QVGA screen 2.4 inches . The latter does not permit us either to leave entirely satisfied by this test.

So successful gamble for Nokia which has a complete and successful, the target of professionals should not remain indifferent to the charms of the E75.

    It was like:

    • EDGE, 3G and HSDPA
    • The A-GPS technology
    • Wi-Fi
    • Compatibility HC (for microSD cards)
    • The finish and design led
    • Azerty Keyboard
    • FM radio
    • Autonomy satisfactory
    • The 3.5 mm headphone jack
    • The supplied software provides the interface and Symbian

    It was least like :

    • The screen 2.4 inches
    • QVGA resolution
