Cheap Walkman phones have traditionally not turned as well as the more expensive models among the demanding people. Now Sony Ericsson has launched yet another cheap music phone to enhance its presence in this class.
Sony Ericsson W302
Twins?
Sony Ericsson W302 looks at first glance like a W890i. The shape is very similar, and the buttons have the same layout.
If you go closer to the W302 in the seams, you'll see that they still are not completely equal. There off W890i with gorgeous materials and heavy materials quality, neighborhood W302 cheap plastic.
Our test copy was the black edition. W302 also comes in a silver color, and many will not think that this looks more elegant chopped out.
At W302 that looks and feels cheap, is to understand. It is actually among the cheapest music phones you buy today, specifically the need to distinguish yourself with a big duplication to be the owner of a W302 without a subscription.
Small and lightweight
You hardly notice that you have a W302 in a trouser pocket. One thing is that it only weighs 78 grams, which is very small, but it is also thin as a splinter.
Unfortunately, exploiting not place the keys on the phone very well. The result is a key set that is small.
In fact, the big brother W890i has greater number keys than W302.
The number keys in itself is good to press on with the good response, but is best for those with small fingers. Menu buttons of the same suit. Fortunately, the keys to make and add on a little bold, so it is easy to answer a call without having to worry about pressing the wrong.
Small and small ..?
The keys are not the only thing that is slowly on the W302. The screen is not particularly large. The same can be said about the resolution. This provides the shot in a display that despite sharp colors are not optimal for the more demanding tasks such as view photos and video.
For simpler things, such as to scroll through menus and write numbers and text, the screen works well with usable font size.
When you scroll through the menus, it is not much delay. While browsing the image gallery go with a smaller backlog has been normal.
Useless dictionary
We have rarely had a concern about the text message feature to Sony Ericsson. This time, we must unfortunately make a small exception.
It may in fact seem that Sony Ericsson W302 is equipped with a dictionary purchased for a lick and nothing at a garage sale in a previous contrast.
Even smileys do not appear when reading and writing messages, aren't boring. But what is really annoying, is that the dictionary seems to live their own lives. Among other words, is divided in two by itself.
What really is the top of that, is the look and often starts with a large letter on the middle word in a sentence. Unless you want your messages to look like something a pre-school student has written, you must typically a couple of times in every sentence go back and write some words again.
It needed to hear music
As the Walkman phone that is, of course W302 comes with everything needed to hear music. The memory card of 512 MB prefer to around 100 songs. The music brings you the easiest over the phone with the supplied data cable, which btw also charge the phone.
Unlike some earlier models, the phone is still active even if the phone is connected to the PC in mass storage mode. Manual included are simple and easy. Unfortunately it only came with English and German manual with our test copy.
You also get with a transition to 3.5 mm minijack. Although we believe a
music phone should have direct input for the mini, do you at least to buy something extra to use the phone with your own headphones.
