    TV reception, recording and playback

    TV reception, recording and playback

Loewe, differs from its competitors with TVs that can receive all forms of TV reception. Some brands indicates a DVB-C tuner then it is not able to properly receive the signals. This is not the case here or reception is complete and very good quality. Despite the presence of multiple tuners, access to the channels is simple. The TV channels automatically according to the reception mode which lets you juggle very easily between different mode. A flat, however, our tests have shown a lack of sensitivity of the DVB-T tuner in case of bad reception. Where KDL-40W4000 receives and returns the entire package TNT, the Loewe does almost nothing.

Registration is integrated on a hard disk of 160 GB in several ways: direct, scheduled, repetitive ... These are then accessible from the main menu. It is also possible to record a program on the hard drive and read another at the same time, just as it is possible to record a string of DTT and to watch another.

The big change introduced by the Connect range is the ability to play media files stored on a USB device or network. Our USB flash drive was detected without problem as our UPnP servers. The display on the TV is very clean and launch files faster than it is for 8-megapixel photos or DivX high definition. It regrets, however, it is not possible to play videos from a USB device, the passage through the network is essential.

Loewe Connect 37 Media Full-HD + DR + TV Image Quality

    Image Quality

Loewe has added to its television technology several image processing. The most conspicuous is the film Smoothing mode (DMM), which significantly enhances the relief subjective. However remember to disable most of the time because it gives an impression of TVshow very unpleasant. Furthermore it fails to keep pace at scene of action. Then successive impressions acceleration / deceleration unpleasant.

Playback Blu-ray reveals a good definition and a very pleasant dive. One can easily act on the image by adjusting contrast, color intensity, color temperature, brightness, sharpness, or enabling the digital noise reduction (DNC). In the end we obtain quite easily an image in line with expectations cinema. The depth and shades of black against are behind the Sony KDL-W4000.

The audio is not lagging behind. The 20W x 2 can be heard in a pretty nice way. It was here dealing with a product far superior to others. Listening to music is quite possible, as well as listen to the audio DVD.

The main fly in the ointment of this TV Loewe upscaling lies in its improvement. Diagonals as the rounded leaves appercevoir smoothing with a rather unpleasant halo effect perceptible. Whether on our test patterns, reading, watching DVDs or programs TNT, the result is less than many less expensive models. The tingling is however well controlled and smooth toujours au rendez-vous including 24p.

We would not be complete without mentioning the many assistants who accompany the user at each stage whether the TV settings or the connection of external equipment. We would like to see other brands follow this line.

Re: Loewe Connect 37 Media Full-HD + DR + TV

To find a level consistent with the reported gamma cinema and avoid all the problems of black or white clogged burnt, we leave the brightness at its default value (10) but lower the contrast to 7, the average gamma reading is then to 2.17.

The mode of color temperature is mild, which is the best movie playback (DVD, Blu-ray, video ...). It regrets against not being able to independently adjust the primary colors and their gain / offset to align maximum RGB curve and color temperature of 6500K.

Recommended settings with a platinum Sony BDP-S500:
    • Smoothing film (DMM): no
    • + Image: no
    • Adjusting self: no
    • Brightness: 10
    • Contrast: 7
    • Color Temperature: Soft
    • Noise Reduction: Medium

    Supported formats
We Soulis TV a series of audio and video files in order to better assess its compatibility. It appears that the majority of video formats are supported but not the MPEG-4 AVC is essential in high definition. The extension MKV is not supported but it is rather logical. Some problems have also been raised with the encoding options 3B Frames and GMC 3WP. For the rest reading is fluid and enjoyable. For classic audio formats MP3, WMA, WAV

    Conclusion

Loewe sign again an excellent product offering features not found elsewhere. The picture quality is average, the price it reached.

I am going to Rate this 3/5

    What we like
    • General Design
    • DVB-T tuner, DVB-C, DVB-S (optional)
    • Playing media files
    • Integrated Recorder
    • Many assistants

    What we regret
    • Price ( 1,38,000 )
    • OSD confusing the first time
    • Connectivity back to the horizontal
