File May Be Corrupt - Word - Excel - Vista

I got an email from my friend for an Excel document which was created in office 2003. I have office 2007 on an XP machine and on a Vista machine. I then downloaded the file to the Vista machine but get the error message that says "File may be corrupt" if I am trying to open the file in Office 2007. I then downloaded the same file to the XP computer and it opens up just fine in Office 2007. So, how do I solve this problem on Vista? Thanks.

The thing is, with the Excel file I just remembered that I got a error called "File contains unreadable text"? I am able to open the Word 2003 files properly but in Office 2007 it is not working? Please help.

You can download a software called Advanced Excel Repair(AER) which is the best tool to repair corrupt Excel files. It will scan the Excel files and recover your data in them as much as possible, so to minimize the loss in file corruption. Just search it on the net and download and install it on your pc. Hope this helps.

I have sorted the issue now, the problem was with the corrupt doc file and after restarting the computer, the file is not opened but I used the recovery for word online that worked fine.
