uninstalling SP3
was told by MS Support not to use Add/Remove when removing SP3 but instead
to use System restore to revert to previous points prior to installing SP3.
SInce I cannot revert to a previous point created by System point prior to
installing SP3, I am thinking of reinstalling SP3 without remove it or
remove it and then reinstall it. Which option would you guys recommend?

Hi there,
Did you use system restore in safe mode?

RE: uninstalling SP3
My system got into an endless loop of rebooting at the splash screen. It
took several tries to get it to boot in plain SAFE mode. System Restore
didn't work.
I could NOT get to the windows control panel. What I COULD do was navigate
to "program files\ccleaner" to open CCleaner and do an uninstall from there.
Uninstall took almost as long as installing the package.
hope this helps. I won't be running this update again any time soon.

Re: uninstalling SP3
Did you tell MS Support that you couldn't revert to a previous Restore
Point?
The above notwithstanding, I would do EXACTLY what MS Support told you to do
and nothing else.

Re: uninstalling SP3
1. Continual reboots or can only boot into Safe Mode after installing WinXP
SP3?
See http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?p=187790#p187790 or simply rename
INTELPMM.SYS to INTELPMM.OLD.
2. Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available for
Windows XP, but only for Service Pack 3 (SP3), until 14 Apr-09. Chat and
e-mail support is available only in the United States and Canada.

RE: uninstalling SP3
Hey Sulsano,
Did MS Support say why not to use Add/Remove programs to get rid of SP3?
It was my only option as I had been having issues with system restore
previous to SP3. I used add/remove and my system works fine now...so far.
Just curious in case I should be looking for an issue I'm not aware of.
Thanks,
Glenn
