Half life 2

I'v had half life two for a couple of months now and have never been able to play it not sure why whenever i install it it installs normally but when i try to play it it either crashes are gets stuck on the loading screen and i tried downloading a demo game through steam it did the same thing any game i try to play through steam bahaves the same way does anyone else have this problem can someone tell me a way i could finally get to play half life 2

what is your video card?
try to uninstall its driver & reinstall it again.
