Manage Add-ons - Add-ons that run without requiring permission
While doing some research on my system, I came through few add-ons those were actually listed under “Add-ons that run WITHOUT REQUIRING PERMISSION”. First surprising part was that they don’t need permission and second is that all these add-ons are enabled. Are these really necessary to be Enabled ?
Let me show those Add-ons to you guys:
- Microsoft Shell UI Helper - ieframe.dll
- Scripting.Dictionary - scrrun.dll
- Tabular Data Control - tdc.ocx

Re: Manage Add-ons - Add-ons that run without requiring permission
Nope, it is not necessary to keep all these Add-ons enabled unless and until you really need them. So, just sort out which you don’t want and disabled them to keep your system free of processes. These all add-ons are actually related to your Internet Explorer browser.
RE: Manage Add-ons - Add-ons that run without requiring permission
Thanks a lot for your help bOReANaZ!, but here too I have a problem as I don’t know which of them is required. For example, though I use Windows Live Messenger but if I see in this add-ons list, there are three add-ons listed for the same, as follows:
• 3 for Windows Live Messenger - MSGSC8~DLL
• Windows Live Messenger - msnmsgr.exe
• Windows Live Sign-inC - WindowsLiveLogin.dll
So, which one should I enable and which to disable ?
Re: Manage Add-ons - Add-ons that run without requiring permission
Personally I’’ll suggest you to leave them all as it is if you are not expert in recognizing these add-ons. We don’t know which file is required for what and how many files are required for running any one particular application. Like the one you discussed above, live messenger. We don’t know whether it can run with just one of them or it requires all three.
So, leave them all enabled or disabling any important one can hamper your work or system.

Hey guys, do any of those Active X Controls have anything to do with the facebook "Refresh" control? Ya know, the Active X control which keeps asking if you wanna disable it in FB? I can get that effectively shut off in Safari, just wanna do it in IE too - IE 8 Preferably.

ActiveX controls, mini program building blocks, can serve to create distributed applications working over the Internet through web browsers. Examples include customized applications for gathering data, viewing certain kinds of files, and displaying animation. So, if you disable it then many of the apps and games wont be displaying in the proper way it should be.
Re: Manage Add-ons - Add-ons that run without requiring permission
I'm just trying to identify which control causes the FB page to Auto Refresh - Just wanna shut that off.
IN Safari, Social Fixer fixes that. But there is no add on for IE that can shut it off, and nobody wants to make one - For the specific reason you mention there.
But I get tired of having to switch to Safari just to check my FB page, I'm trying to find what control causes that so I can shut it the fook off.
