Connecting Laptop to TV using HDMI - Pictue is Good, But no sound
I want some help here to connect my laptop to my monitor through HDMI pc. But somehow it is not able to work. I also have a HDTV and want to do the same on it. There is a display but it is not giving a good resolution. I am bit fed up with the connection. I tried a number of different settings and none of them is working. There is problem with sound and the video quality is also useless.

i have rebot my laptop two time and i still cannt connect to my tv what do i do now
Re: Connecting Laptop to TV using HDMI - Pictue is Good, But no sound
What worked for me: right click on the speaker icon in the bottom right corner of taskbar
select playback devices
Now by default mine was set on "speakers" with the additional option of "Digital Audio (S/PDIF)" being unselected.
highlight digital audio and set _IT_ to default.
and walla, it worked.
I have an Asus g1s with an Nvidia 8600m GT built in.

Exactly what llllll said right click set as default and sometimes you may have to refresh the video (player) or the browser for the sound (sometimes)

I think that T series have sigmatel IDT sound. You can try to build a working INF to install the latest drivers from here. The last posted drivers on Gateway's website for our T series works fine in Windows 7. You will get all functionality back. The HDMI audio driver is installed by the Legacy ATI drivers package you downloaded above. However, if you want the latest and Win7 compatible for sure, you can download it at realtek.
Re: Connecting Laptop to TV using HDMI - Pictue is Good, But no sound
Suddenly my audio stopped working over the HDMI to my TV.
Sopcast, mediaplayer, divx player no sound was coming through..
But VLC player 1.1.5 did work!!! I've had it installed recently and removing it solved my problems with the other players.
Did anyone experience this with VLC player and did someone manage to
solve the sound problem without removing VLC?
(Vaio laptop, Win 7 - 64bit)

It could be that the settings might have changed because of some recently installed plugins or codecs. Can you go into Control Panel > Sound and make sure HDMI is set as default device with a green tick. When plugging in HDMI cable it should do this automatically but I have found it is flakey. Hope that helps

Hi, No I've checked every possible settings.
HDMI was selected and the only player working with sound over HDMI
was the VLC player. Yes maybe VLC comes with some codec or plugin that
screws with settings but where and how still is a mystery :-)...

Then I guess that you will need to reset VLC's preferences. Afterwards, make sure that the "Use S/PDIF when available" option is checked in VLC's Audio preferences. Note that VLC can only output audio via HDMI. Video output is untested so far.
Re: Connecting Laptop to TV using HDMI - Pictue is Good, But no sound
Instead of using a HDMI cable I recommend to use a TV Switch box. This is best to use for this kind of work. It comes with standard display connectivity and a TV port. You just need to hook your devices on that and done. Your entire laptop screen will on the TV. It is very easy to use and portable to carry also. You will never face the issue of audio here. One of the adapter which I know is Push2TV Adapter. This is widely available online.

There is one more adapter that you can buy from Belkin. This adapter has a hdmi port and wifi support. So if you even do not have a connectivity support for your laptop you can share the content on wifi. Very easy to use and comfortable to configure with sleek design. There is hassle in connectivity and work on minimum cable. Search for ScreenCast WiDi. And check for feature before buying, there are certain variation in this model.
