SP1 beta (Vista) error - Code 4C7
I started a thread at
http://forums.microsoft.com/technet/...0623&siteid=17
and also did a google search for this error Code 4C7 and there is not much
information. (That thread has the more complete story that what I am
writing here.)
Long story short - I went to install the Vista SP1 beta. I jumped through
all the hoops and after Windows Update spends a fair amount of time trying
to download the update (between 65 MB and 652.4 MB by the way), I receive
that Code 4C7.
I can not uninstall the two updates associated with this SP1 beta ( KB937287
and KB938371) and Windows Update keep trying unsuccessfully to download the
SP1. (The uninstall option in Windows Update does not appear for those
updates.)
(Darrell Gorter helped me privately back in March 2006 or so with an Update
issue and if he is reading this I would greatly appreciate it if he would at
least take a look.)
Thanks!!!!! DH

WinZip then opened and there were three files. I clicked on the file with the
cmd extension. The 'cmd' black window opened and I was told to 'press
anykey' to continue. I did.

Normally you don't expand updates and pick bits out of it.
What did the cmd file contain? E.g. drag it to an open Notepad window
instead of just executing it.

<cmd_output OS="XPsp2">
F:\>set /a c =0x4C7
1223
F:\>net helpmsg %c%
The operation was canceled by the user.
</cmd_output>
My guess is that you got a previous message which will be more significant.
In any case try searching for any files which were changed by your update
--usually log files, more importantly files which have a Date Modified timestamp
that matches the time that the update was run--which contain that code in any
of its representations and find the rest of the *context* for your problem symptom.
