Admin account changed to a guest account!
I am working on Windows XP SP2. There was a user account with admin rights that I have always been using. So, after hearing that it is not safe, I though I would change my account type to power user. But after fiddling with the same account I did something wrong and now it has changed to guest accout. So can anyone tell me how to solve this issue?
Re: Admin account changed to a guest account!
You can boot into Safe Mode and then log on with the Admin account. After that open a command prompt and enter the following command substituting the proper information for where it says "YOURACCOUNT":
net localgroup administrators /add "YOURACCOUNT"
After that you will see an entry that will tell you the command completed successfully. Now you can restart the computer and check the status of your current account, it will now be a Computer Admin.
Also check how to copy data from a corrupted user profile to a new profile:

Thanks for the solution, it worked properly. I was going to do a system restore but your method worked like a charm.
