Every laptop is different therefore adjusting the brightness or contrast on your laptop may vary from the steps provided on this page. However, understanding the method of how the brightness and/or contrast are adjusted may help users be able to adjust their settings.

Most laptops today adjust their brightness, contrast, and other video settings using the function key in conjunction with another key. For example, a user may press and hold the function key (usually abbreviated as "FN") and press the up or down arrow keys to increase and decrease the brightness.
