updates failed to install

The updates will download but they fail to install. The system does not give
me a reason for the failure. Help.

Reboot into safe mÂºde (F-8)

Click the green checkmark and click Go.

After it has finished, try Windows Update and see if you can get your
updates installed.

Go to Start > Run > type in or copy and paste the below into the Open:
line -

%windir%\windowsupdate.log

Click OK or press Enter
The WindowsUpdate.log will now be open
Copy and paste the last 50 or so lines into your reply, please.

Perhaps read: Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP installation

RE: updates failed to install

If you are running XP and each time you try to install Windows Security
updates, then call up Microsoft at 1 866 727-2338. They have qualified
technicians there who will guide you through your problem. It is free of
charge to you and they know what they are doing. They fixed this same issue
with me.
