running New Widescreen monitor in 1680 x 1050 aspect ratio
I have recently purchased a new 21 inch widescreen lcd monitor and I want to run it in a proper 1680 x 1050 aspect ratio. But I am not abloe to find how to change the aspect ratio or install windows driver for this new monitor? I have a video adapter of Radeon 700 / Radeon VE and a LCD Monitor Hanns G HG 216. Any help?

You just need to right click on your desktop and then click on Properties, after that click on Advanced and then display adapter and then list all the modes and then scroll through the settings given. There is also an application that you can download to maintain the color control for Windows XP from microsoft that will show you the display settings.

Since you have a Radeon video adapter then have you tried downloading the latest drivers from ATI website for the video card? It might be also possible that the video card is not able to support the monitor's resolution, which is why you are facing such problem.

Even I purchased a new monitor with 1680 x 1050 resolution and installed it on my Ati Radeon 800 card. It runs great on the VGA cable and also at the proper size but the problem is that even in BIOS is not able to see the monitor on the DVI cable. So, I bought a new ATI Radeon x1950 Pro graphics card that worked pretty well.

Can you try to right click on your desktop and the go to Properties and then settings and then try to adjust the screen area. Incase the exact resolution you want to set is not available then go to Advanced option and then Adaptop and then try to list all modes and see if you can set up at your desired resolution.

Well, I will recommend you to check the actual Ati display settings with DVI cables. There might be a setting to Activate a digital display. I am not able to remember where it was exactly bits somewhere in there. I was also having this problem on my 22 inch Samsung monitor and when I activated the digital display, the problem seems to have been solved.
