Quick Launch does not show after each start.
I was running Windows XP on my computer which has recently stopped to display the Quick Launch on the taskbar, I think because of some Registry clean up? I have ensured that its item are ticked and even tried the 'Lock the Taskbar' option but after every reboot the shortcuts of quick launch are not showing. I have to right click on the taskbar and then select toolbars and click on the quick launch and it will stay for the duration of the session. But after that it will not be in the same place again? Any ideas?
Re: Quick Launch does not show after each start.
Can you try to open Regedit and in the left hand side, go to the below key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
After that in the right hand side, scroll down and find the REG_SZ value named "Userinit". The value could contain this data - %system32%\wsaupdater.exe, where %system32% will tell you that its the path to the System32 folder, such as C:\Windows\System32. So instead of wsaupdater.exe the data should contain userinit.exe. Simply change it to the path of the System32 folder and to userinit.exe, like - C:\Windows\System32\userinit.exe,. Dont forget to add the comma at the end and then close the registory editor and restart your pc.
Re: Quick Launch does not show after each start.
Thanks for responding but still the method that you have given me is not working? Do you have any other ideas?
Re: Quick Launch does not show after each start.
You can try to add a NoSaveSettings DWORD value to the below registry key and set it to 0:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
After that restart the computer. Some information in the below link:
