Getting "Service Control Manager" entries in System event log
I’m having a SBS 2003 server. Since past few days whenever I check System event log I see few Service Control Manager Entries along with few event IDs listed such as ids 7031, 7035, and 7036. Apart from these, my print spooler is also stopping on occasion. Hope you guys can help me out with all these problems.
More info about those event ids is as follows:
7031
The Print Spooler service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
7035
The Print Spooler service entered the running state.
7036
The WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service entered the stopped state.
12503
The WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service has been idle for 15 minutes, it will be shut down.
12517
The WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service suspended operation.
Please help me out with these errors.
Re: Getting "Service Control Manager" entries in System event log
First of all checkout the spool folder which is located at C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\PRINTERS and see if there is anything. By default it should be completely empty unless anything is printing. If there are any files in there while no jobs are queued, delete them. If you get any problem while deleting them, go to services applet, turn off Print Spooler service, delete the files, and restart the service.
Re: Getting "Service Control Manager" entries in System event log
Help appreciated Judy. As you said I check the spool folder. I dint found anything over there, it was entirely empty as you said. I'm not seeing any unnecessary printers in printers and faxes.
What now?
Re: Getting "Service Control Manager" entries in System event log
There is a KB article describing Print Spooler service stops responding and Event ID 7031 is logged into Windows 2000 or in Windows Server 2003. I think it will surely help you. Just check it here http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;890642
