NVIDIA driver update for NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller breaks network mapping in Vista.
NVIDIA driver update for NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller once again
breaks network mapping in Vista, just as the offering a few months ago did.
Fortunately, I have System Restore active, because the update does not show
in Installed Updates. It does show in Update History, but one cannot
uninstall it from there.
Installation date: 8/14/2007

Hi there,
Boot last known good configuration or Use system restore.
Taking driver update from windows update is really not a good idea unless
you like having problems. An excpetion is there for MS hardware.
If your hardware works fine leave it be working fine.
If a driver update is needed because the hardware does not funtion well you
should download an appropite driver at the manufacturers website in this
case nvidia.
Best regards,
Michel Denie

Thanks. The main purpose of the OP was to alert folks (maybe even MS) that
the update is flawed.

Hi there, you are welcome.
There have been several posts warning people for not taking any non MS
drivers from windows update as most excperienced computer users know.

RE: NVIDIA driver update for NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller break
Oh that's why it failed during the update twice. Tehy musta pulled it.
Graphics drivers I agree with don't use auto update. networking drivers
though...meh.
