Updates Fail With Error Message Message 80070002
I have been updating a brand new Gateway computer and three updates dated
July 10, 2007 and now a new one have failed so many times I have turned off
Automatic Updates. None of the troubleshooting steps in Windows Help and
Support have worked. Now I cannot seem to find a way to contact MS Support
without paying them.

RE: Updates Fail With Error Message Message 80070002
Create this folder and it will install
c:\windows\system32\logfiles
create a folder called firewall and the hotfix will install
c:\windows\system32\logfiles\firewall
This fixes it!! YIPPEE worked on 3 PC's for me all versions.

RE: Updates Fail With Error Message Message 80070002
A file named "Firewall" (empty) already existed in my "logfiles" folder.
Renaming it "firewall" didn't do any good. I did manage to find the proper
way to submit email support requests and am waiting for a reply. In the
meantime Automatic Updates are disabled on my machine.

Re: Updates Fail With Error Message Message 80070002
Which update failed to install?
Is it listed in Add/Remove Programs and is it listed as successfully
installed in Update History at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com?

Re: Updates Fail With Error Message Message 80070002
KB935807, KB936357, and KB933928 all failed. Another update dated July 10
failed previously numerous times since July 13 when I bought the computer and
is no longer listed.

None of the missing updates are listed in the installed updates on either the
update page or in the programs.

Re: Updates Fail With Error Message Message 80070002
Tip: Temporarily disable real-time protection by your anti-virus and/or
anti-spyware applications (e.g., CounterSpy, Spysweeper, Spybot, AVG
Anti-Spyware) and/or any third-party firewall (e.g., ZA) before attempting
to install the update(s).
Also see the Known Issues section of http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935807;
Using the appropriate resolution Method in 935807 /may/ allow the other two
updates to install. To download/install the other two updates install
manually, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933928 and
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936357
