Why is Office 2007 so slow even with 1GB ram?
I am using Intel Centrina Duo with 1 GB Ram and Vista Business along with Office 2007 as well. I am right now using Excel and Word, and I am a power user of the both. I acutally shifted to Office 2007 but now the office application are opening very slowly and they are also very slow in responding and processing. One Excel seet takes more than 20 seconds to open and if I am trying in MS Word, then the typing speed is faster then the words appearing on screen. What could be the problem for this issue? Please help

I think that you will need to upgrade your Ram because 1gb of ram is really minimum out these days.

You should now a days only purchase Microsoft Standards. Office 2007 and Office 2003 speed difference is quite enormous. The office 2007 version is not that usable here even though the Office 2003 flies along pretty well.

Can you tell us whether both the versions are installed on the same pc and also on the same parition or so?

Are you sure that you have the latest graphics card driver? Also do you have the latest printer driver for your printer as well? It could be possible that both graphics and printer driver could be behind the typing issue that you are getting. Have you checked whether Outlook is open? If yes, then ensure you do have the Outlook Performance Update installed.
RE: Why is Office 2007 so slow even with 1GB ram?
Even I am a poweruser of the entire office suite. I usually work on Outlook, goove, excel, word, etc; mostly in my entire day. As far per my information, the largest performance are by far in Word, Excel and Outlook. On one pc I am running Office 2003 and 2007 on XP with 2gb ram and on the new pc I am running Office 2007 on Vista with 2gb of ram. Normally Ms shouldnt create such programs that are memory intensive but still the best option would be to upgrade the memory for better performance.
