Code 10 error with Wireless Card
This is a year old Windows XP Media Center PC. I recently bought a Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Adapter which is not working with this laptop due to some unknown reason. When I check Device Manager there is an error message listed saying “This device cannot start (Error Code 10).” I tried two different miniPCI cards but the error is same.
As troubleshooting I downloaded the most recent drivers from Intel and installed, even updated my motherboard BIOS, re-installed the cards but problem still remains as it is. When I start the computer first time after installing card, I can see the message in system tray saying “Installing drivers” but after some time it says “there is a problem with the hardware installation.”
Somebody please help.
Re: Code 10 error with Wireless Card
What is the make/model of your laptop? You should know that some laptops have a small hardware switch while some laptops require to press key combinations to turn on the hardware. See if it is not with your laptop model. Anyways, why don’t you just try getting help regarding laptop hardware from the manufacturer itself. I mean you should better call up their customer care for the same, they can tell you better regarding this.
Re: Code 10 error with Wireless Card
I’ll suggest you two things for this error. First of all update all drivers and follow the instructions provided in this Microsoft Article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310123 . if it is not able to solve the problem then you should simply take it to manufacturer’s authorized service center and get it fixed. It’s a hardware fault.
Re: Code 10 error with Wireless Card
Try reverting to older drivers for 2200BG.
I solved it by reverting to old Intel 9.0.3.9 driver.
