microsoft office enterprise 2007 encountered an error during setup

I am having a Compaq EvoN600c Notebook, trying to install Office Enterprises 2007 on the same but facing some problems. At the first attempt when I ran the setup, it just froze my laptop, I waited for about 10 minutes and found still frozen, and hence I restarted the system and tried again to run the setup. This is time I got an error message saying “Microsoft office enterprise 2007 encountered an error during setup”.

Don’t know what could be the reason. Tried searching for some help on Microsoft Sites and found this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927153 . It was exactly the same problem in my case, I followed the steps mentioned over there but that dint helped me. Do anyone have any idea regarding this? Please help.

I have been through this issue earlier. After lots of research and troubleshooting I discovered that it can be solved by trying to install from a User Account instead of Domain Admin (in my case I was trying to install from a Domain Admin). If this is the case in yours as well, then here are the steps you need to follow:
- Go to Start, click Run, type ‘msconfig’, Enter.
- Click on Startup Tab and uncheck options 1, 2 and 4th.
- Now go to Services tab and Check the box at bottom for “Hide all Microsoft Services”.
- Now click on Disable All button and Ok.
- Restart the computer, go to Start, Run and type ‘msiexec.exe /unregister’, tap Enter.
- Again go to Start, Run, Type ‘msiexec.exe /regserver’ , press Enter.
That’s it. Now try to run the setup again from the Office Enterprises 2007 CD.

Check out this link, I was able to uninstall the program and install fresh.

This program will help to remove MS07 completely.

If there is any registry entry from earlier installed office, that might be causing this errors. Hence I think you should download and install Office Installer Cleanup Tool once and deleted each and everything you see listed here related to MS Office. Run disk Cleanup, Run CCleaner if you have, delete temporary folders, restart the pc and start the setup. It will work. Download the same from between.
