0xc000000e \windows\system32\winload.exe
I have installed windows vista few hours ago and i dont know if i have missed out anything, everything was appearing fine and i dint encountered any error while installing vista. After completing the installation when i rebooted my system then i got below error message:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause
File: \windows\system32\winload.exe
Status: 0xc000000e
Info: the selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt
Since then i have tried rebooting my system several times but no avail, i am not able to get rid of this error message. Is there anyone who can help me out?
Re: 0XC000000E \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WINLOAD.EXE
I wanted to know if you have installed any hardware recently? according to the error you have installed some hardware and haven't installed its driver. So just check out in device manager and see if there is any hardware with missing driver? if you find any then install its driver and reboot your system once installed. If at all you dont find any missing driver in your system then you can try running Startup Repair using vista dvd, you can follow below steps for running Startup Repair.
- First configure your computer to boot from DVD, insert dvd and reboot your computer, check out for System Recovery Options menu and then click on "Repair your computer".
- Once the process gets completed simply click on finish and reboot your computer.
Just give it a try and post back if you find it helping, best of luck.

For Windows 2008 and the same error:
-Boot from install DVD.
-Choose repair (left lower side)
-Choose command prompt
-goto the directory X:\Sources\Recovery
-Run: StartRep.exe

Hi, yes it functions. I've had this trouble while recovering a Windows 2008 system partition by "wbadmin start recovery".
Thank you.
