DCOM settings, how to return to default
Windows 2003 SP1, no AD.
Changed some settings for DCOM using dcomcnfg. Coincidence or not, we cannot
return to default. When dcomcnfg windows is open, expand Computers shows
Mycomputer with red sign. As soon as I do Right-click on Mycomputer, dcomcnfg
is closed.
On this server I cannot :
- start ntbackup (so cannot estore system state from backup).
- Cannot start IE7.
- cannot make remote desktop connection from my laptop to server,
- cannot access shared drives.
Is there some work around to solve this problem?
Thank you.
RE: DCOM settings, how to return to default
hi,
The following registry string value is used to enable or disable DCOM :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\OLE\EnableDCOM
If you change this value to N/Y, you disable/enable DCOM after you restart
the operating system.
In event viewer is there something about DCOM?
