RE: Error Code 80070005
I did recieved some updates before this problem. It automatically solved now.
I think its just some temp error.
By the following way, you can get updates, but I don't think you'll be able
to get updates automatically. I suggest just wait a bit and watch.
1. On the windows update page, left hand side. Click "Use Administrator
Options"
2. Under "Update multiple operating systems", click "windows update
catalog". It's at the end of the sentence.
3. A new browser window opens up, on the left hand side click on "Windows
update".
4. Click "Scan for update".
5. Once the scan is complete, click on "install".

I am having simular problems im using vista home premimum. its been 2 weeks
and can't find any type of assistance on this issue.

I am still having this problem . . . When i went to follow the solution I
found I could not find the "Use Administrator Options" . . . maybe because I
have home premium? If anyone can offer any help, that would be great . . .
Otherwise I jsut going to do a complete reinstall and write a nasty letter to
Bill!

RE: Error Code 80070005
My first install of Vista was rather smooth, I was impressed... but
software/driver developers haven't set up Vista, x64, DX10, etc etc, so I
went back to XP. Still, I had a lot of program issues.
Anyway, it was my second Vista install, clean on a fresh HDD... Windows
Update throws this error at me.
Incidentally, IE7 included with Vista is rokene. When I go to townload
starting, and the file disappears. I've scoured my drivers, caches, tamp
folders, and gave up. IE also fails to recognize clicks, sometimes on links
(including MS links - in fact, this window is bugged).
I haven't changed any hardware recently, no filrewalls...
Oh, this is on Vista Ultimate.

RE: Error Code 80070005
By and by, I also can't install ActiveX - not anywhere, as Admin, etc etc. It
won't even try; the yellow warning bar pops up, but clicking on it just makes
it hide.

I spoke with a MS tech, I was able to stop this problem by disabling UAC. You
can do this by going to sysconfig, Tools tab, scroll down and run the
"Disable UAC"... reboot, and presto.

Re: Error Code 80070005
What solutions?
To avoid confusion, please begin a new thread about your specific problems
instead of hijacking someone else's thread. State your IE version and full
Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista SP1; Vista 64-bit SP2; Win7; Win7
64-bit) in your first post.
Even better, begin your own thread here:

Re: Error Code 80070005
I've been having the same problem installing the update for the HP w2207 Wide Screen LCD monitor update. I contacted Windows support and got a nice reply with a real solution. They sent a link to the Portrait Displays website that tells you how to fix the problem. It involves installing a patch. It has detailed instructions that are pretty easy. I tried it and it worked! I was able to then do the update with success.
Hope this will help all the other people out there with the same problem.
