MSXML 4.0 SP2 Security Update (KB927978)/ Windows Defender updates
My problem is that I wish to install MSXML 4.0 SP2 Security Update (KB927978)
but it fails every time, and I want to ignore any Windows Defender updates as
I do not have Windows Defender on my system. How can I 'simply' achieve this?
I have tried to follow the threads but the 'solutions' seem to be written
for people with a degree in Computing. Why can't Microsoft get these updates
to install, if they are so important?

Re: MSXML 4.0 SP2 Security Update (KB927978)/ Windows Defender updates
FWIW, all of my systems that have WD installed have NO issue updating to
the latest defs and the MSXML update installed with no issue .
Why even have WD installed if you do not let it update to it's latest
definitons ? Seems odd, to put it mildly. Do you do that with the
antivirus software installed ?

RE: MSXML 4.0 SP2 Security Update (KB927978)/ Windows Defender upd
I fixed my problem:
1. Stopped Panda Platinium 2006 Internet Security (Antivirus)
2. Installed KB927978
3. restarted the computer
4. Restarted Panda
It worked !!

Dear Bill and Others - I agree to your query, I dont run Windows Defender -
is this why I am getting the problem with this download? Same old Same Old
comes up with download unsuccessful?

Hello Bill,
It's easy... Just remove Update (KB927978) in your Software and also remove
msxml4.dll and msxml4r.dll from your X:\Windows\System32 directory

Check your windows installer service.
I was able to install this update after I have the windows installer service
enabled.
Hope this helps.
